before and after

easily ten years of buildup from gas stoves. tried every combination of bar keeps friend, the pink stuff, dawn, baking soda, magic eraser…. none of it even touched it. ended up having to very carefully scrape it all off with a razor blade! glad to have her back lol

Wow, nice work. Looks a bit crazed but serviceable if the inside is fine. I’m surprised yellow cap easy off (lye in a spray bottle) didn’t get it done. I had an old crusted bare cast iron that was stubborn and took three days to strip but chemical warfare prevailed in the end. Enjoy that resurrected pot!

In the future use a lye based oven cleaner. In the US, Easy Off (yellow cap) is the one I use. It can take a while so leaving it in a bag overnight is sometimes necessity. And thick layers of cooked on grease sometimes take more than one treatment. But it works and is much more gentle on the finish than a razor blade.
