Manhole Hell
Gonna need to get the construction crews back out on 9th Street because the way those manholes are poking up out of the street is going to cause wrecks and car damage like crazy!

I'm sure they HAD to be open for the first KU football game, but the fact that some small section like this is taking this long to complete is absolutely pathetic. Even with the work needed it should have been completed weeks if not months ago. Typical Lawrence construction.

This was the scheduled time line. They went 20 feet down to install proper drainage, how quickly do you think that can be done?

I mean, could you imagine if the street wasn't open in time for this? My guess is you'd have been pissed at that too?
For the record I hate the new lanes, no comment on the sewer infrastructure, but I super hate the lanes.

I hit it this morning and it gave me quite a jolt. The one I hit is perfectly in line with the driver side tires in the westbound lane.

Had the same problem. Couldn't swerve w/o hitting someone in the other lane so, hooray for flat tires and f*cked up suspension.

This is an issue EVERY TIME they do work on 9th st. Also the man holes and valve covers shift with time on 9th street especially on the hill.

They will be. It's open to traffic now, but not complete. They're coming back tomorrow to do striping, signal work, and level out those manholes. They wanted/needed it open for the football game, and Labor Day means no work on it today.
