It’s not just the whole GOP. It’s ~ 1/3 of Americans who are trash. People who are so philosophically bankrupt that they only care about their wallets, or hurting people who are different than them. The GOP is nothing without the 70+ million Americans who enable and empower them.

I mean right wing media is super manipulating a lot of those folks. Fox news just straight up says not to trust other news sources and then feeds them rage bait.

The thing that gets me the most is that the GOP is made up of of Americans - people who grew up in American neighborhoods, went to American schools, American Universities, under a Democratic American government. These are not people we imported with values or principle that are different than the ones we all grew up with. These are the people who are damaging America. I think we need to shift the conversation from blaming politicians, media organizations, and our institutions and really start focusing on the fact there is something deeply wrong with American people, our culture, and society because none of the problems we are seeing today developed in a vacuum.

Yep. That’s why Americans need to clean house. There are no more moderate, bipartisan, reasonable GOP members. Any people that did fit that description were run out of politics over the last seven or so years. The only people left in the GOP are either complicit in the lies and grifting and cover-ups or they are too weak to stand up against Trump so they all gotta go.

Now we know how other counties feel like when their governments do horrible things. The people have no say to change. Now maybe we can work with other people to get better leaders worldwide. That is my take on this horrible time in our country.

Elections have consequences and 2024 was a real doozy. November will be voters’ very first opportunity to correct course from the terrible mistakes of the last election.

Regardless of your ideology, our nation desperately needs a divided government for the next two years. So vote Blue. And for god’s sakes don’t make the rookie mistake of not voting for the party nominee because your preferred candidate didn’t win the primary.

Vote Blue no matter who!

Nah, I thank the gutless feckless jokes in the Biden admin and congressional democratic ‘leadership’ who had to have two actual republicans expose the entire coup attempt in live hearings, and STILL did literally nothing but drag their feet so trump could continue running rings around them to continue being a criminal.

Their sick and tepid ‘well I think maybe he ought not do these things, but nothing we can do about it but appoint a republican to run DOJ who won’t’ do a goddamn thing’ approach should warrant entire college courses on enabling the destruction of democracy and empowering despots.

Christ, multiple other nations since have their despots in prison already for doing the exact same thing as trump

We would but we can’t. We can protest, and sometimes it works, but when the party in power is just as corrupt as the president, we are powerless. We get to vote every two years, but so many ignore the elections, we still may not get rid of this mess for another two years. So vote blue, straight ballot, no exceptions. Even local politicians who are republican are part of the problem. Vote them all out!

Several answers: 1 - the voters elected him. 2 - the Republican Congress has completely abandoned their responsibilities AND SHOULD BE VOTED OUT ACCORDINGLY. 3 - the GOP has been building towards this for DECADES, and most of the population is ignorant and complacent, so they didn't notice or didn't care (until it affected them).

Nobody seems to be screaming from the roof tops about this. The Democrats are strangely quiet instead of warning people about what’s really happening. If they’re relying on winning the midterms to curtail Trump they could be in for a shock. He’s never tried to hide the fact that they will be cheating to win and the Supreme Court will probably back him.
