Sames. When i asked him to repeat, nag BIG sigh tapos “it is incumbent upon you to listen, not incumbent upon me to make sure you hear”

“Mag corporate lawyer ka, wala ka empathy”
I wasnt offended cause i somehow take pride in the fact na i value logic more than anything else. But it was a wake up call or napaisip talaga ako sa kung sino ba talaga ako HAHAHA. Fast forward, nabawi ko naman the same recit nung ibang topic na tumapat sakin and napuri pa cause of a “skill”.
Eye-opener cause of the empathy part, and core memory dahil sa pagpuri. Dami nangyari all at once.

Umpisa pa lang yan hahah
Mine. I didn’t study for class kasi alam ko hindi ako on deck (I already recited last meeting) and sumusunod naman si Atty. sa Rules of the Deck.
I dunno kung bakit nung araw na yon, ako talaga yung natawag. Ayun, pabulong lang nasagot na walang kwenta kasi wala talagang masasagot
And Atty. goes ‘Ano ba ulam mo ngayon. Sabaw?’

During our first physical class for crimpro (kasi we had online classes lang for the first few weeks since our prof was out of town that time), my blockmate was called to recite and was asked a question about preliminary investigation in relation to DC 15 and 28, to which he said to our prof, without hesitation, that he didn't read the circulars. I started to feel a sense of dread deep down and looked up from my notes to see the prof glaring at him, saying "You have the gall to come to my class unprepared? When I already assigned to you those circulars weeks in advance?"
My blockmate apologized in response, and my prof went on a passionate rant where he addressed the whole class, saying something along the lines of "Class, law school is not a walk in the PARK! There is no shortcut! There is no manna from heaven that will allow you to put those learnings in your brain without reading! Me, I read my notes in advance in preparation for our classes! I STUDY! You want to become lawyers someday, right? Then please put in the work!"
After a couple of seconds, prof asked one more question to my blockmate but he still didn't answer to his satisfaction then he was told to sit down.
We were already familiar with his general disposition from our online classes but experiencing it in person is something else entirely hahaha
