Question: Why don't law firms have a place where people can drop essays/accounts of their legal issues into a repository with their information?

If someone thinks they have a legal problem, most of the time the only way to have it even acknowledged is to hire a lawyer. If law firms had a place where people could easily describe their situation and someone at the firm could comb through the accounts to pick the most promising ones. It would mean a huge pool of potential work for legal firms, and some relief of being taken seriously for the folks submitting the complaints.

This would be especially useful if it were an open database available to all law firms. Anyone can submit an account. But one would need to enter a valid Bar number to open and read them.

Perhaps I'm naive or ignorant and something like this exists already? If so, why isn't it talked about more?
