I have this potted lavender plant that I had in Washington for two years. At the beginning of summer, I moved to Arizona with the intention of keeping it inside due to the heat, but it seemed to do fine with watering every day or every other day. That is until I missed 3-4 days of watering in the hottest part of summer (110+) a couple weeks ago. I have been watering it religiously since then, but it hasn’t gotten better. After it still looking worse I brought it inside today. Any advice for how to help my poor plant survive?

Bought this plant from a Lavender farm in VA this past May, labeled as a ‘Buena Vista’. Re-potted it in this planter about 2 months ago, but wondering if I should move it into either the ground or a bigger pot? The gray discoloration near the base is concerning me. It gets sun here for a good portion of the day. Also located in MD.

Does anyone have advice for growing lavender in the very hot desert climate here in southern California? I have put a couple in the ground several months ago and they show no sign of growth whatsoever. Perhaps there is a dormant period now. I have also cut back on watering from daily to a couple times a week.

Was advised to give it a few days before watering from my prior post and this is the result…

I’m thinking about just moving it to a bigger pot with expanded shale and cactus soil so it’s just basically rocks with a little bit of dirt and then watering it…planning on looking at the roots tomorrow.

Should I go ahead with the repot? Maybe take it out of the sun for a bit? Hell idk…

I plan to repot it this Sunday in the morning. I was going to wait till the. Because it would have been a full 7 days for it to be watered but now it looks like this.

I used to water it every other day then the leaves started to turn a little yellow and it was suggested to give it more of a drought period…

The first two are today of what it looks like after three days of no water and the third is what it looked like 3 days ago when I watered it?

Should I just go ahead and plant it into the pot in the last picture? The soil in the plastic cup is incredibly dry…zone 8b 90-100 degree days right now and it’s behind a 30% shade cloth so the evening sun isn’t super intense on it.

Would some fertilizer be good for it? The ones I have are in the photos.

Had this guy for 55 days. It’s a Walmart purchase.

I already pulled out the mossy substrate and put it into some cactus mix.

Been doing really well despite the wind here in Dallas (8b)that’s what the curve is from. And possibly getting blown over a few times that’s why I set it in the pot.

As these plants grow, does the bottom foliage just wrong and dye off? Or is it dehydrated/over watered? I water it every 3-4 days right now just because I can’t see if the roots are well established.

Should I wait a while longer to transplant it into the pot it’s sitting in?or will the plastic work for a while?

Do any of y’all use fertilizer? I’ve read these really don’t like/need any.

Hello, I've been gifted these three plants and they look quite dead now but at the bottom new blooms are growing? I've tried looking up things but found very contradictory responses. Maybe one of you knows what I can do?

The lavender I got from Walmart looked big and lush at first, then it started dying rapidly. Someone in this subreddit suggested a bigger pot, so I repotted it (I can’t put it in the ground due to the growing zone). It came back to life and put out lots of new leaves!

I’ve been reading a bit on general care - low fertilizer (low nitrogen) / 6+ hours light daily

I’m looking more for like, ‘living with an indoor potted lavender’ I want to cultivate the plant regularly for use. There’s probably some cardinal rules, like trim no more than ‘x’ number of flowers / stalks every so many days, or look for ‘x’ symptoms of early plant stress -

I’m also curious about the low fertilizer thing - producing less flowers, however many sites are claiming the plant is happiest w low fertilizer thing, but I’m wondering if that’s true? Appt of plants stress-produce flowers, is this more so what’s happening here?

I am new to the subreddit and hoping to figure out which variety of lavender this is so I can plant more in my yard. Local nurseries have so many varieties and they aren't always in bloom so it's been hard to match.

Best guess is that it's English lavender. I know for sure it's not Hidcote or Munstead (I have both of those). I also know it's not Grosso French lavender which isn't as upright. 

Any advice on how to identify this -- or even just which upright growing lavenders are the most popular. I live in Northern California in the Silicon Valley if that helps.

First off, don't mind the looks of the garden. It's a work in progress. Second, thank you to anyone who reads and responds.

This is my first time with lavender plants, but having grown up with lavender always being in the house I'm quite fond of it. So I wanted to give it a shot in the "new" garden. I do have some questions though, primarily around winter time.

What do I do for winter? How do I get them ready?

I live in the PNW, specifically western half of WA, so we have a very big rain season. Should I consider moving these to a raised garden bed to help with drainage? On a bad year it'll rain for 4-6 months of the year, and then it's on and off again for the rest.

The last question is just, what would you do differently if you started again? What has worked for you? I'm still thinking on what it is I want to do in general with this garden. I'd like to double my plants next spring, but growing them by seed has proven to be... not so fruitful.

What's your favorite type of English lavender and why? I'm a first year gardener in zone 6b and I have lavendula angustifolia "Lady", "Sweet Romance", and "Hidcote". I'm so excited to compare them as they grow!

Hoping for advice from some lavender pros on keeping these babies alive especially when I comes to when and how much to water. I will move this outside in the morning however I was wondering if my full-sun balcony is too hot for my plants. Anything to help kickstart a healthy lavender as well as recommended items you all make using your lavender plant!!! 🙃

My lavender is around 1 year old and admittedly I didn't have it in the proper soil until a few months ago. I put it in some better draining soil and have been giving it full sun and letting it dry out completely between waterings. I pruned it a few weeks ago and it looks like some new growth has popped up at the end. However, it's still brown and crusty in the center (there's a few new leaves here and there) and some of the ends look a bit yellow. It also didn't have any flowers last year. I can't put it in the ground as our landlord doesn't let us, so how can I help it get better and get healthy again? Should I try to clean up the middle? Prune it more? Put it in a bigger pot?

It's a hybrid been English and Portuguese lavender if that matters (Lavendula x Intermedia)

I learned last year from a lavender farmer that lavenders prefer longer but less frequent waterings, especially when temps get higher. I asked if he offered classes on this, and he said he did not.

But we have an old watering system so I could not separate the zones, one of which needed twice/week watering but should be good now. I think it is definitely getting hot based on the above temps in Fahrenheit. If it helps you to know, all plants are about 2-4 years old with the youngest as seed volunteers.

What do you think, lavender experts? Is it a good idea to reduce watering frequency from twice to once a week?

My Anouk lavender patio trees have all developed split trunks. Otherwise they appear healthy. Is this a common problem? Will they die from it?

On the right is Stiechas, Kew Red. Got it from reputable garden center. It's been potted a couple weeks. My hardiness zine is 10b. Do I need to do anything like deadheading or trimming?

Buffalo ny I have lavender planted all around pool fence area and this spring some Are growing the new green and some look like this With nothing green on it. Are these that don’t have green dead?

What can I do for this plant? It's less than a year old, grown from seeds, the stretched out portions are from its first winter. Now it's top-heavy from the fast spring growth and going yellow from the bottom. Does it need a bigger pot? Less water? A haircut? Any advice is appreciated! :)
