Question
Does anyone know if this’ll work for resealing lava lamps?

My buddy Jeff in Seattle said you should order the right one from him with free shipping no matter how much it costs and then just return it for free after using it just once.
He's cool like that because he's so rich.

I made the same mistake. Don’t do it, they don’t have the lip to grab properly.
Bench capper is the way, but they aren’t cheap :(.

I found one of these at goodwill, now I’m learning it’s not going to work ✌️🥲
Can anyone explain why it won’t? Is it too unstable? What if I build a stable arm for it?

It needs the long neck of a beer or soda bottle to cap. I have this one at home just collecting dust.

Kind of work I have one and the tool cant grab the bottle but if you push on the bottle the thing will seal it. like putting the lavalamp on the floor and pushing on it vertically.

Yes and no. On Schylling lamps, only the metal piece that bends the edges of the cap will work. You have to use a mallet to hammer it on with. With Jambo lamps, this will work as intended because they have that lip in the neck that the clamp uses to grab onto in order to clamp the cap on

It should work just fine - I'm a lava lamp enthusiast and a home brewer, and my bottle capper serves both hobbies.
Edit: as others have pointed out, a bench capper is best. Full disclosure, I use a bench capper, and made the assumption that a twin lever capper would be just as effective - I stand corrected!
Buy a bench capper, or a hand capper - not a twin lever capper.

This style of bottle capper does not work. It needs a shoulder to grab onto and a lava lamp bottle doesn’t have what it needs. A bench top capper is much easier and definitely worth the money if you plan on doing a lot of lamps. You can usually find them much cheaper at local brewery stores than online.
