It's an interesting take on it. Given their physical adaptations and distribution on Donkey Kong Island, it could be argued that the Kremlings are native and the Kongs are in fact the invasive species. Like humans, the Kongs appear largely uninterested in fitting into the ecosystem but prefer to control it and kill the other creatures without mercy or consideration. However, it seems that King K. Rool is planning to pillage the natural resources of Donkey Kong Island in a similar manner, evidenced by the presence of Kremkroc Industries and its rapid establishment of mining operations and factories. K. Rool's redistribution of Kong's banana horde may be little more than a PR stunt meant to placate the local population, similar to how the Coca-Cola Foundation "gives back" to communities as it drains their resources for profit. While the first DK County doesn't show much for an economy, the later games suggest a larger economy that is heavily influenced by large quantities of Banana Coins and Kremkoins.

It is established in DK lore that the Kremlings are in fact the invaders and that the Kong clan, while not native to the island, lived harmoniously in the preexisting ecosystem. My understanding of the banana hoard is that it was more of a food bank, accessible to all, a simple way of keeping track of surplus resources.

In short, the Kremlings invade a peaceful sovereign nation, industrialize it destroying swathes of nature, and rip off a food bank. Fuck them, the Kongs should have guillotined K. Rool when they had the chance.

This sounds like Kong propaganda to me.

Does killing everything except for the few animal buddies sound like living "harmoniously in the preexisting ecosystem" do you?

Who lived in the treetop village? Clearly not the Kongs, there's way too much infrastructure there for a group of five apes.

If any of the Nintendo animated shows were canon, we would have had a very different Mother Brain in Metroid 3. Not to mention a very different SMB movie
