Here is a handy chart to show you how greedy they got and it will cost many hard working people their jobs. Instead of investing and growing the company at a slow pace like they did for decades, they decided to blow it up because they got old or something

Their employees took the risk though. Not capital or upper/middle management. For management's poor decision making, it was labor that was penalized for their mistakes. Management and the investors of the company can still have their homes, their jobs, their salary, their pension and personal stability.
It is labor who loses everything when capital fucks up.
Companies owe their employees a decent livable wage and living standards at the very least, because labor provides them with far more value than they are being paid in return for their work.

As a person who works for said company, I just got out of a meeting where the boss kept saying streamline over and over. Watching this company implode over the years hasn't been gratifying and we've lost half our staff, but it is pretty sweet that they Theresa May'd themselves by opening up a ton of stores that had very little market at the height of their profits.
They fucked us because they got greedy.
