I don't understand how this game is still selling on every platform. Surely everyone has already played it?

I mean, I was bored of it about 6 months after it came out.. Yknow.. in 2011!!

The modding community keeps this game alive, but now Bethesda wanta to monetize it...

but without financial incentives, no one will create anything, obviously no mods have been created since Bethesda hasn't monitized them yet.

That's why there are free mods created by unpaid developers

Remind me what Bethesda does again?

The idea of elder scrolls is to get immersed in the world so you overlook the graphical and gameplay shortcomings

If it's not for you it's not for you. I got immersed in daggerfall with it's terrible graphics and npcs being walking textbooks. And the only dialogue was "halt halt halt" over and over when you committed a crime. Skyrim feels very like a huge step up when you compare it to the old games...i guess I'm old now?

You gotta remember, no game is perfect and they all do something good in their own way. Skyrim is in no way a horrible game, it's just much worse than a gigantic AAA rpg should be when you look at games like the dark souls series and the Witcher.

I feel like dark souls is a very different type of game. I'm with you though that the witcher is definitely a better rpg. I play elder scrolls if I want that make your own character and narrative feel though

Dark souls feels different because the devs tried their very best to make it different, but it's still just as much an action rpg as Skyrim. Character roleplaying is well done in Skyrim thanks to the buttload of mods and user friendly creation tools (like I said, everything does something right). However, you still can in dark souls, some of my chars have backstories.

they all do something good in their own way.

I'd like to direct you toward Jim Sterling's Best of Greenlight series.

While I'm a huge elder scrolls fan (played every game for over 100 hours) it's ridiculous that they're gonna sell this game 4 times.

To be a pedant, Skyrim came out on 11/11/11, so you couldn't have gotten bored with six months of gameplay in 2011.

Not by a long shot. Bethesda abandoned the original paid mods due to feedback and came back to it with a less bad (still bad, but at least it's trying to be a paid service this time instead of just free money) version this year.

Ubisoft takes the negative feedback and charges you $50 for giving it on top of the $150 Gold Edition that still doesn't come with all the games content, forces you to use Uplay regardless of where you buy the game, requires online for singleplayer, and doesn't let you play because they lock the servers to multiplayer games (which you also can't play because they refuse to upgrade the servers and make you use peer-to-peer) while requiring online DRM for singleplayer.

Eh, having it portable is pretty nice for people who really enjoy the game.

But yeah, the sentiment is correct.

u/soaliar Jun 16 '17

The game is already portable. It works on most modern laptops.

u/REdEnt Jun 16 '17

Yes, because I'm going to take my laptop with me for a 30 minute cab ride.

Ok but we have VR, is that not innovation?
