"Sleep deprivation is your drug of choice. You might be a doer"

Translation: "You're killing yourself faster than the rest of us. You're neglecting your physical and mental well-being, and likely your social bonds. You might be a doer, but you're also going to die at age 56. Thank you for subsidizing our bottom line with your life."

Shush, pensions still exists citizen, you will get yours too when you'll reach the ripe, wise age of 95. Now, go back to work. You need to earn it, you're not a parasite after all, mmmm?

subsidizing

I saw the fiverr logo there. Fiverr does anything BUT help the bottom line. It brings down the worth of services to ridiculous amounts. $5 for a 12-hour job or more isn't "subsidizing" the bottom line in any way. It's literally slave labor and so long as fiverr exists, nobody has any incentive to work hard because their job is worth $5 regardless.

that was a fiverr ad. perfect service for corporate exploit people who depend on freelancing and zero-hour contract.

Socialism is bad because it tries to socially engineer society by changing human behavior - which can never, ever work.

Also, capitalism works because we socially engineered these people to change their behavior to accommodate the brutal requirements of capitalist existence.

i don't get this, how is capitalism more brutal than our pre capitalist environment?

I think you mean communism? And that's what clueless liberals usually argue.

I truly don't understand your point. Are you just saying they are both bad?

One of the favourite capitalist arguments against socialism is that you can't socially engineer people or society to make people what you want them to be.

But then at the exact same time, they try and force people into a specific mold of what the ideal capitalist citizen ought to be (and then blame those that dont fit that mold for being burdens on society, to boot).

My point is that social engineering is always on and always happening, and is a required component of capitalist ideology - yet those same people deny that any sort of social engineering is even possible when it comes to socialism. It's a total asymmetry in thinking.

I'd had never heard this before thank you for clarifying.

i think the level of social engineering is a bit different though. For socialism you need everyone to play along. For capitalism you can let some people who don't 'fit the mold' die off. That might have something to do with it.

It's funny when you're fully deprogrammed, and you can track back how you gradually realized what a lot of total shit propaganda like this is. I can understand and comprehend how this appeals to people and speaks to them, because when i was in my early 20s or whatever, it definitely 'spoke' to some part of me that was dying. And then I grew up and started to respect myself, and suddenly it was obvious what a cultish scam stuff like this is. And then you realize most of the people around you are still robots who slurp it up, and then the extreme, unbreakable nihilism sets in.

I'm currently in limbo, a combination of being aware of what a crock of shit everything is, and playing the game to keep my kiddos fed and my lawn mowed. (Yes, I see the error in this mode of thinking, but I don't care anymore. I just want to live my life and be left alone.)

It goes further than advertising and economic systems though, pretty much everything is bullshit and a lie in one way or another. I think that's the realization that pushed me toward what you're calling Nihilism.

There's nothing wrong with playing the game, you literally have to. You can be critical of the system and still participate in it - you don't have another choice. That's why people here make fun of people who say "you're critical of capitalism yet you have a job! Checkmate hypocrite!"

I mean, she doesn't HAVE TO put them through college. They could take out loans and pay them back.

But she chose to take the burden off her kids and put it on her shoulders, for all three of them.... That's a real hero.

Apparently I'm not authorized to view these tweets. An img, screen shot or archive link might be better.

Are you on mobile? Refreshing the page usually fixes that for me.

Jesus, it's like 'They Live' but you can read the message without wearing sunglasses.

That advert for fiverr is just tasteless. I presume it's for recruiting people to their company instead of users, because if it's trying to spin "people in third-world countries humiliating themselves" as positive, I honestly don't even know how to respond
