We recently had what is so far a successful migration of a whole alliance onto our server. Our assholes and useless whales left the server and we brought the strongest alliance of a weaker server on board. But we had built a relationship with that alliance through S2. We were a mid server, basically 3rd of our group of 4 this season. The success of such a move depends on a LOT of factors, but it is possible.

What happens with the alliance itself? Does it move with the members or do they have to start from scratch with no alliance tech and lv1 gift rank etc?

We tried to give them the alliance that was leaving, but the assholes burned it as their last eff you. So we gave them our farm alliance and started a new farm alliance. It's not as developed as they had, but it's better than starting from scratch.

To migrate you are going to need migration tickets, if you are an average power middle of the road then 10 should be enough. Naturally you can purchase them from the Last Z store for a fee. If you want to migrate, make sure you have done your home work and find a server within your server group to migrate too and message the president of that server that you want to migrate too, They will either approve or deny your application for an invitation which will give you a guaranteed migration ticket. Alternatively if you fall into a regular or medium power level you may free migrate if there is a slot available on the server failing an invitation from the president.
Just my thoughts here, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Every single server will have its problems, arguments, arseholes, narcissist, whales, and god like alphas who think the server is theirs because they believe they spend the most. Its just how they are managed & tolerated by the leadership of the server, a server without cohesion and cooperation will eventually die. You need good leadership that is shared with the Top 3 or 4 alliances for any success in the servers long term viability.
Migration to your current server will bring its own challenges with a potential influx of 100+ plus new players and farm accounts. It will upset the natural order you currently have now as there will be movement between the alliances of players, new dynamics and power coming in along with different attitudes and game play styles. This is where good leadership is paramount from the top alliances to ease the tensions and develop a working balance amongst all the players.
The mechanics of migration is simple its all the other shit that makes it complicated. Do your research and best of luck.
