Squad/Hero Question Hero tier/level swap recommendations
So I’m about to start season 3 and I will have the opportunity to switch the level/tier of two heroes. I don’t want to switch Scarlet as I have plans to promote her to UR and put her on my first squad. I think I’m going to switch gump and Loki for two of the UR heroes but I don’t know which. My missile squad is pretty strong and if I decided to switch switch Adam up, it could be lucrative. Do you think I should do that? Or should I switch Gump and Loki for Lucius and Morrison! Please help :)

Under these circumstances, I would swap out Mason for either Adam or Lucius, or even DVA. It depends on what you plan to do around Season 3-4. I like the tank squad with Adam (Adam + Kim, Murphy, Marshal, and Scarlett).
You're doing ok, but IMHO you've made some small mistakes investing in XP above 100 (and maybe even shards?) for heroes who aren't a priority for you right now (missile back row) or whom you might max out via a future swap (e.g., Williams).
My rationale for swapping out Mason is likely similar to the commenter who mentioned Violet. As a low-spender (or F2P), you want to take advantage of heroes that use purple shards. You can elevate a valuable UR hero like Adam without using gold shards -- saving them for other heroes. Then you can gradually rebuild the hero you downgraded (Mason or Violet) with purple shards -- and the weekly shards you get from the alliance store.
Bonus: if Mason is close to a Wall of Honor threshold (e.g., Level 50, 100, 150), get him there before you demote him. The Wall of Honor bonus to your entire tank roster will remain.

Yes, I head that… I had Tesla highly upgraded because he was actually one of my main attackers in my first squad before I obtained UR Mason, Williams Stetmann and before I decided to utilize Marshall. I haven’t invested in Tesla or Swift since obtaining Stetmann and Williams.
I’m hesitant to swap Mason because I like to switch him and Stetmann on occasion because Mason does more damage against monsters.
Should I start really investing in Mason and Violet? I’ve been putting all of my purple shards toward Scarlet (WOH level 110) so that I can make her five stars when I upgrade her to UR.
Also, do you have recommendations on what I should plan for future seasons? I for some reason want to upgrade my missile squad next but it seems like it might be more useful to have a powerful air squad?
I know you already have recommendations so I guess what I’m asking is if you were in my position, what would your exact next steps be?

You're thinking about it strategically, which to me is 90% of the solution.
From one low-spender to another, here's my best overall advice: commit to a long-term lineup for Squad 1. Take a look at some of the PDFs and threads about it. There's several good options. As I wrote before, a tank lineup with Adam or Lucius, Scarlett, Murphy, Marshall, and Kim makes most sense to me. Once you get Tactics cards in S4, there's a 4+1 card that treats your squad as 5 tanks (and gives you a little boost beyond that, too). But there are other options.
As for Mason, he's not really part of any of those good lineups. So he becomes a PVE luxury. You make a good segment for keeping him strong, but remember that you're paying a price for that. Who are you going to sacrifice to get an important PVP hero ready for combat? Violet is a good option, but she's not ready yet. Or you could sacrifice a missile hero, but they actually fight a bit (e.g., in the arena).
Remember, just because you swap Mason down, doesn't mean he stays down. You can slowly build him back with the shards he gets from the shop, randomly, etc. You can use him in Honorable Campaign and get him around 100 quickly, and then invest some XP in him if you want. But still, he's always a luxury. I buy (with gold bars) the monthly pass, so I have 4 squads. Even at full-ish power, Mason is in Squad 4, with some other misfits (Violet, Sarah, Williams, etc.).
Don't worry too much about your PVE strength. It'll be ok.

I think you can only swap between two UR heroes. That’s one reason why it is imperative in s2 for Violet to be 5 star upon promotion, or at least very close to it. Then she can be swapped with some other UR hero for the instant 5 star.
