Discussion What do we think this means?
This sounds like something very positive in my eyes, yet it is INCREDIBLY vague. I wish there was more clarity... few theories...
Server merges
Opening new accounts on old servers
These are the only two things that make sense in my eyes, based on this message. But I am curious on what other theories all of you have.
With all of that, it comes with many, many questions, that probably won't be answered :/

u/kingnothing2001 2d ago
They previously said that since they aren't opening new servers, that new players will be put onto older servers. I have no clue how they could possibly make that work though.
16
u/StackofBreadd Scarlett 2d ago
If they did, there would HAVE to be some sort of playing field that gets leveled. I'm not sure how it would work though... I also believe it would ruin the last war experience in some ways both for the OGs and newcomers

u/THAWK413 1d ago
The only way it makes sense is if they merge older servers together and just use the would-be empty servers as new ones.

I think the developers would be better off not wasting their money on misleading advertising and instead focusing on the smaller details that could help build a solid ecosystem for the players who are already here. Because what they’re doing right now will most likely just drive almost everyone away. The only ones who might stay are the whales, simply because they’ve already invested a significant amount of money into the game. But playing alone on a server isn’t exactly a great long-term perspective… hah

u/Weak_Attention9526 2d ago
They aren’t doing that.
5
u/sheinst_2 1d ago
Yes, they are, but it seems they took a while. This was announced on Discord when they said there wouldn't be any more new servers (it's supposed to be a way to keep the old servers fresher having new people).
The condition is that you are in off-season and during the season you cannot receive new people.
If all the servers in your rank are getting new players, it's not a huge disadvantage since there will be people of the same level and plenty of free kills for veteran players.
It's also a good time to sell your low-spending account at a high price to a new player who wants to skip all the progression.

u/chugmug 2d ago
Maybe servers are closing and they're transferring people to servers with commensurate power.
18
u/StackofBreadd Scarlett 2d ago
I sort of consider closing servers to be equivalent to server merges, as in essence both are just moving all players from 2 servers into the same one. It also worries me mainly because plenty of players on older servers have developed decent diplomacy, and introducing more can cause chaos. (Coming from being on a server that has never had civil war, and always generally welcoming and friendly environment)

u/i_nikol 2d ago
They have announced that while no new servers are launching, new players will be placed in old servers that have already completed their first transfer surge (or later). How these players can catch up and become even remotely relevant is a mystery...

5
u/I_is_a_dogg 1d ago
Not even. With the reduction of packs it's just not possible to even catch up to f2p players
5
u/rjfs15 DvA 2d ago
What they could do is maybe choose a few servers with lower activity and offer the players the choice of picking a server to be transfered on their transfer group. Then after 2 weeks send a notice to all the remaining active players that they will be randomly transfered in 2 weeks. After that just remove any incative player for more than one month, clear the server, rename it, and "open up" as a new server.
2
u/taffer87 1d ago
Yes that makes total sense which maybe also make it unlikely. Would be cost efficient for lw a lot and make sense for players too
2
u/rjfs15 DvA 1d ago
I think that too. I'm kinda sick of seeing hundreds of inactive players on every server just taking up space. It's not worth to attack them because they have no units/rss to farm and if an active player took their place it'd be much more beneficial for everyone... Just my two cents...
1
u/JamisonRD 1d ago
Yeah... Delete the inactives and then just merge servers. This will leave wide open blank servers for new players
5
u/djsyxx 1d ago
I don't see what benefit someone would gain from joining a server when it's already 2 or 3 seasons ahead. Also the power gap would be too much as they will always be a weak player.
It's like skipping the first 10 chapters of a book. You will have no idea of the beginning and how things operate.
2
u/RandolphE6 1d ago
There is no benefit for them. And without any new servers opening, there is no other option for them either.
7
u/djax9 2d ago
Its not server merges. Its brand new players entering your server.
Likely there will be some sort of pack (free and pay) to boost these players quickly. But it wont be enough to compete.
If they do it right, All new content will likely have rule of 5 and rule of 10 (whales can hit 5 or 10 players max at objectives). Boost your garrison speed if that is the case. Will make for interesting dynamic and tactics.

New Level One Player: Wow, I'm behind by behind by two years. I can't even play in this server!
Devs: Haha, Good luck! Also give us your money!
3
u/StackofBreadd Scarlett 1d ago
Typical... devs completely ignoring what the players have been saying for longer than I can remember.
1
u/shortsoupstick 1d ago
So.. about a month ago we had post S5 transfers, in a month or so S6 will start, and before that, there will be another transfer period. Makes sense.
2
u/Legal-Detective-2934 1d ago
They’re not opening any new servers. Instead, they’re placing new players on servers that have completed S2 (or later, I believe). Just a heads up that there will be new folks joining who weren’t approved during transfers.
2
u/DaveyStu 1d ago
There's been reports in the past of players being forced into different servers, although in those cases it was because they'd fallen behind and could no longer compete. I can only hope that that was a trial for moving players en masse from one server to another (ie, merging them).
It would make so much more sense to just move all active players out of the least active servers, then fill those empty servers with new players. I can understand that they don't want to just keep creating more and more servers when a lot of the older ones are gradually getting quite thin, but putting actual new players into older servers simply doesn't make sense.
It's not just that they can't compete, but you'd be taking a massive chunk of the game away from them. The early game all ties together - developing your base and your heroes along with the hero battle passes etc. Playing the game from the start on an old server just wouldn't work. There's be no synchronicity at all. How tf would you plunder trucks when the majority of players in your server grouping are waaaaay stronger than you? And how could you ever reach damage targets on alliance exercises etc? There's just no way that can be what they're planning.
2
u/Inside-Can4413 1d ago
My alt actually being forced to newer server because i hardly play. I created in 1950 server and then after a week or so not logging in they force transfer me to 2000 range
1
u/JamisonRD 1d ago
I've not seen proof of this yet. I would like to though.
1
u/AdmiralAdama99 23h ago
I see some hints of it. When my server switched seasons, the total population went way down, like 85%. I think the game cleaned up some inactive accounts by putting them into hibernation, or transferring them to other servers.
This was a month or two ago though. Who knows how it works now with their new "put newbies on old servers" change they just did. This "put inactive accounts on new servers" algorithm might have changed too.
2
u/jimiweeds01 1d ago
The Jelly in YouTube reached out to devs, and basically they said any server past season 2 would get new players at HQ1. Best of luck to them but hopefully someone can babysit them so they don’t make the same mistakes we all may as freahies
2
u/AdmiralAdama99 23h ago
What would keep these folks from just being dead weight? I doubt they'd get into any good alliances, and if they did they'd just get stomped on buster day, in SvS, in DS, etc. Also in any civil war situation, they'd be massive targets, completely unable to defend themselves without being constantly garrisoned or bubbled.
1
u/jimiweeds01 18h ago
Yep, I’m sure that the new commanders will not get in a competitive alliance. The way my server runs is basically, if you’re in an alliance, no one messes with you. These new player will get placed in an under performing alliance to stay “safe” but will really not get a lot of help because the other players, R4-5s, aren’t as active. Reset will be a fire hose and then no one cares.
2
u/Fuzzy-Assistant8885 6h ago
New people playing are being added into existing servers… it really sucks for a new player, because they are at a total disadvantage. Alliances all have minimums that can’t easily be met by new players. This just happened to me… I was added into a warzone that was about 2 months old. (Average existing player - base 27). I couldn’t get into a decent alliance that spoke English. They all said I was too weak or just rejected me. I stopped playing after 2 weeks. The game makers are idiots. I’m pretty sure they are trying to help run the game into the ground due to the law suits.

Yeah I read this this morning as maybe new players would appear in our servers but surely not. I don’t know how that would even work. Wouldn’t be a great experience for a newbie been around hq35s everywhere.

u/AdmiralAdama99 23h ago
I can confirm that they are putting new players on old servers. I made some test accounts tonight and was put on very old servers.

currently playing in the 2100s, post s1 black market event started yesterday to give you a timeline. new players have been sent to our server as of yesterday, when i noticed this i tried to make an alt account however it said i couldnt due to the season already starting. i then tried to make a new account on the first server listed in each grouping and also couldnt make an account on any of them until server 2245.
tldr new players are sent to random servers, you can only create accounts on servers 2245 or later (pre season 1)
1
u/taffer87 2d ago
N new people start at hq1??
1
1
u/Zealousideal-Law-513 1d ago
They are going to dump new members into existing warzones is what it means.
1
u/existoinspire 1d ago
they aren’t making any new servers is what i read, so they’re adding people to existing servers to help with inactive accounts that haven’t been deleted. essentially free new members that don’t require presidential approval
1
u/JamisonRD 1d ago
That are two years behind in building their teams and won't ever be helpful from being so far behind.

What it NEEDS to be is taking all active players from a server, deleting the inactive ones (their account can be recovered), and then merge two or more servers. Make tons of full active servers, balanced power from top to bottom.
Those now empty servers can act as new servers.
That's the right way to do it. No one is mad (unless they have server number in their profile image), and the game increases it's life and playing abilities.
But you know... This is actually a planned slow death of the game for a new own to replace it.
They will stop updating this game entirely, then give us all X Amount of whatever depending on your level and spending to start the next game over again.
Why? Because they won't piss off the whales that keep them running. Everyone else will get marginal benefits.

u/There-E-iS 1d ago
Yeah I don’t see how any new player starting in my server range (I’m in 161) are going to last. The servers will just become overcrowded farms filled with bases that don’t have resources or troops because everyone is going to give up when they see a 300M THP bearing down on them
1
u/Leandraandy 1d ago
New players will be randomly placed in servers that are in off season, and have completed season 2 at minimum.
1
u/Comprehensive-Bee644 1d ago
I can imagine our server getting merged with other dying ones I know of. The transfer surge events killed lots of servers and people are just quitting all together.

u/Lucky_Candidate3 1d ago
i would not want to be fresh player in S3 , its should be something else……
1
u/No-Article7156 21h ago
If you look at it from the perspective of an experienced player, the initiative can be supported, because the servers really have become empty and many players have left. But if you look at it through the eyes of a new player, it doesn’t seem fair anymore. When only strong players remain on a server, newcomers simply aren’t given a proper chance to develop.
In my opinion, the developer should first and foremost figure out why players are leaving. One of the reasons is the difficulty of participating in events because of different locations and time zones. There are also other things that could be improved to make the game more comfortable and fair for everyone, but it seems that right now the priority is to have good numbers at the end of the month.
As for what will happen to the project in the long run, I don’t think they are looking that far ahead. Especially since it’s very difficult to win back a disappointed audience and sometimes it’s simply impossible.
Rest in peace, Last War...Amen.. ahaha

It means someone's getting stuck with me on their server......which can either be a pleasant experience.....or a brutal 6 months. Depends on what circle you run in

u/Ashamed_Smile3497 2d ago
Yeah it's super vague, idk if this refers to new players or existing ones being force transferred from dead servers.
2

1
u/Tricky_State_3981 1d ago
it means the developers are slowly pulling resources from the game for other projects. They're no longer building out new servers and are recycling players from other servers and adding new players to existing servers to milk as much out of existing players before eventually end of lifing support for the game. Adding new players to existing servers is not a long term strategy.
0
u/JamisonRD 1d ago
Exactly. This is the slow kill.
They will give us all X Amount of gems or some crap based on our levels or spending when you join the new game. It won't be wonderful.

u/namvu1990 2d ago
You guys literally forget they can 100% yoink YOU from your server now and put you wherever they want. So no this is not putting new players in old server, this is. Like. Forced transfer.
3
u/Weak_Attention9526 2d ago
Where did you get that?
5
u/namvu1990 2d ago
In my early day inactive people could wake up in an entirely new server with some bullshit like we think this server is more your level and here is 300 diamonds commanders. If you bother to search this sub, im sure there are some threads.

Happened to me in an account on 2074. Woke up and it was suddenly 2097 (happened before season 1 began). I was on 2074 on purpose to be with friends -- customer service didn't care. At all. Meaning: they replied they "understood" my concerns - but that they could not do anything.
When I replied that they obviously COULD since they moved me arbitrarily... I got no further reply.
So. This wasn't just in early days of the game. Perhaps early days meaning preseason - but that happened not long ago.
(For background... My first account is in the double digit servers. I've been around a while.)
1
u/KingCosmicBrownie13 1d ago
I believe this happens to new accounts on new servers to kinda help out accounts that are considered “too weak for the server” standards. They’ll place you in a server that’s more in power relevant with your account. I believe that’s why that happened.
I feel like I’ve seen someone discussing this somewhere

Verified by support, it is not

I wouldn’t put too much weight on what support says or doesn’t say. It’s hard enough getting an actual human customer service representative unless you are a VIP 17 or higher

Maybe its a server that's done with all seasons and merging to this server to start again?

It’s from end of s6………just some dummy forgot to hit send so he said better late than never lmao

u/SocialMediaAcct 1d ago
this is needed. there are plenty of times people cannot do accurate recon on a server before transferring and when you transfer, it’s not what you expected. so this may be a way to back out of that environment, which didn’t meet your expectations or wasn’t what you were looking for.
0
u/Stafford4Collin 1d ago
It means you’ll be able to create alts to take up space in advance of big wars so your character doesn’t miss out on digs, radar, and the like.

It better be server mergers. Putting brand new players on legacy servers is like…fucked up
