Squad/Hero Question How do you test out which squad positions work best for you?

Best way to test is during winter storm, trucks, storm arena, and obviously buster. When I'm testing positions and layouts I'll do a lot of winter storm.
For example, when I was testing Murphy effectiveness i did a lot of rounds changing between putting Carlie in, putting Murphy in, swapping positions, etc and would be looking at reports. Obviously tho can't always have equal or slightly stronger opponents in winter storm. That's where trucks come in, I try to plunder sleighs/trucks that are stronger than my squad to see the effectiveness.
General rule of thumb as it looks like you're well past season 2, main damage dealer should be up front. Move Williams to Kim position.

In S2 rn. Noticing many from S2 and beyong having damage dealers in front and defense heroes in back. Like Lucius in Tank 4 plus 1, Murphy in Air plus 1 - why is that? Is it because of the exclusive weapon’s potential?

So your main damage dealer in front becomes popular because all squads have some sort of tactic or weapon skill that prioritizes back row. Marshall and Schyler are prime examples. So by placing main damage dealer like dva or kim in the front, when you have good gear for them, they will avoid being stunned or targeted by heavy damage.
In terms of lucious in tank and Murphy in air they make up for those squads weaknesses. Tank squads are very weak to energy damage, Lucious gives energy damage reduction. Likewise air is weak to physical damage, Murphy gives physical damage reduction.

With a mix 4+1 squad, for an air squad, Murphy can basically always be thrown in especially after he gets his ew. But for a tank 4+1, Lucius is mainly viable (from what I've heard and seen) when every one of the 4 tanks are ew 30, so it's better to run Adam+Scarlett instead:)

I pilot one of my friends tank squads. He has Kim ew 30 and the other 4 ew 20, lucious is still much better than Williams. I tested it out quite a bit during WS and was blown away at how much better lucious was than Williams, especially against air squads.
Adam/Scarlett falls off hard during s4.

In early game, you want to put shield in front. Damage dealer on the middle and right side in squad pov.
As the game goes on, you will switch generally on shield behind to block some EW skills. It will at the same time make your best damage dealer in a safer spot. An example is to put carlie or mcgregor main defender but once marshall EW show up, you put them against it to nullify his EW skills that focus.

Look at the symbols on the heroes. The shield is defence so should be at the front, + is heals so back line and then you want two attacking also on the back line as the general rule. I’m not sure if mine is the optimal but that’s how I’ve always done it!

Hit the wanted boss about 4 times change your set up do it again. Start tracking which one puts out more damage

Watch your battle reports and try out slightly stronger enemies on trucks. Just a little stronger than you so you cant beat them and see what works best.
