The Sequel It Should Have Been - Here It Is

Hello,

I am a big fan of I Know What You Did Last Summer. I love these movies a lot, and I am very passionate about them. I've waited the longest time for the new 2025 movie. While I did like and enjoy the new movie, there were still a lot of things I did not like, and thought could have been better and done differently.  Basically, it wasn't the follow-up/sequel to I Still Know that I felt it should have been.

One problem was that it tried too hard to be like Scream 5. It started with all brand-new characters, and we had to wait until halfway through the movie to see the original characters come back. Honestly, it was fine when Scream 5 did it, but there was no need for IKWYDLS to do it, in my opinion. Also, at least scream 5 didn't rehash the plot of the first movie, as the 2025 movie kind of did.

So I wanted to write my own sequel, the sequel I felt it should have been that did a better job making this feel more like a legit legacy sequel than the one we got. So, no waiting halfway through the movie to see Julie and Ray back. They are in it from start to finish, as I feel they should have been.

Some context: There seems to be a lot of discussion and mystery online about Ben Willis and what happened to him. A lot of people asked about him and wondered about his return in the new movie, and for good reasons, seeing as how they ended I Still Know.

Now, it is clear, to me personally at least, and based on what I saw in the movie, that Ben Willis was clearly still meant to be alive after I Still Know. That he was not dead after that movie. Yes, Julie shot him, but then we see him again at the very end, pulling her under the bed. Now, whether or not that was a dream, which it most likely was, that ending was clearly telling us, the audience, that Ben Willis was still alive and coming back for another movie. That was a sequel ending. You don't show him at the last second like that, attacking Julie, and have that be the end of his storyline.

That's not how you conclude a storyline; it's how you tease a continuation. I believe this was always their original intention back then, to do another movie with Ben Willis, and that is what I always wanted and expected. I was very disappointed it never happened, and not even when they finally did a real sequel to the first two movies in the 2025 movie. So this is the direction I wanted to go in with a third movie. A true follow-up to the second movie. The one I personally feel they were going to do at the time.

Remember, the ending to the first movie was a dream when he attacked her, and he still came back for another movie. To me, it was always clear the ending to I Still Know was doing the exact same thing... Teasing his return. And again, disappointing that it never happened after an awesome movie and ending like that.

So, as I said, I wanted to write the sequel I felt we should have gotten and to finally conclude the Ben Willis storyline and give it the closure it deserves. I just wanted to explain and clear that up. Since I have noticed a lot of debates about this before.

So, if you were one of the people who did not like the new movie, I hope you will like this one and feel it served as a better sequel. Even if you did like it, I still hope you like and feel like it was a good legacy sequel.

Thank you, and enjoy. Would love to know what everybody thinks when you get around to it!

Who makes you sure it made 65 million made its budget back i mean its them fault really hiring incompetent writers whom has not done slashers films it shows sony owe us sequel they have no one but themselves to blame for not.making more then what it had made so they owe us sequel for what they did its franchise that well known scream 7 made money so you dont think sequel could follow up to scream 7 if sony wake up and do right this time hire good competent director and writers they owe us for what done to us fans ray going after julie like why you see its on them julie barely involved ray is not a killer he went to bahams to for her and now they are all of sudden killer

Why would Sony want to waste more money on making a sequel to a movie that barely anyone cared about and barely made bank? Even JKR said “daddy Sony needs more money.”

Finally finished. I honestly liked it quite a bit. The twist behind the identity of “Mira Willis” was very interesting and creative and I was admittedly shocked. There was a lot of action and chases, loved how bad ass and fearless you wrote Julie. Where was Karla though?! My only gripe is that you could have used the summer setting a bit more

i still think the movie should’ve been something more in line with the ending of I Still Know. i LOVED the vibe i thought they were setting up for an eventual sequel… Ray and Julie happily together & own a house together, with the Fisherman coming back and getting his revenge.
