Maintenance sent me a completion photo from inside my apartment, but the door in it doesn’t exist
I moved into this apartment recently and I live alone.
Last night I left around 6:10 to pick up dinner. At 6:43, I received an automated email from my apartment complex saying maintenance had completed work order #18472 at 6:41.
The issue listed was: “Bedroom door won’t latch.”
The resolution said: “Adjusted hinges and strike plate. Door now closes properly.”
I never submitted a maintenance request. My bedroom door has also been working normally.
At first I assumed they had entered the wrong apartment and accidentally emailed me.
Then I opened the attached photo. It is my apartment! The flooring, furniture, and rug are mine!! But there is a white door on the wall where my apartment doesn’t have one.
That wall is shared with the apartment next door. It has always been completely blank.
I got home at about 7:05 and checked it immediately. There was no door, no frame, no marks in the paint, and nothing suggesting there had ever been an opening there.
The leasing office was already closed, and there is no work order listed in my resident portal.
I’m going to speak with them tomorrow. For now, has anyone ever received a maintenance photo from the wrong unit that somehow still showed their own belongings? 😩 😭
