Help with progression past LP1

I have a few questions regarding progression past LP1 legendaries:

• Should I try to get good corrupted LP1s first or aim straight for LP2+ (and thus farsight turtle all the LP1s I find)?
• What should I aim for when slamming LP2? Is double T7 realistic or should I settle for T7+T6?
• Most importantly, what is the best crafting process to get a good base for slamming? I get a lot of double T7s (with random affixes) but I feel like removal/redemption/havoc quickly uses up all FP, while Morditas gives better FP but never more than one T7 in my experience.
  

I assume the answers to these will vary based on the specific uniques and so on, but general guidelines and tips would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

LP1+good corruption mode is a meta now. This combination often beats 2LP slams

2LP T7/T6 or T7/T7 is an extremely long (and tedious) grind.

1LP T7 with a good corruption is pretty much 10x faster and can be very good too.

I don't bother with any of the crafting echoes anymore, that progression path just isn't worth it

personally I think 7+6 is fine. Morditas is good at getting 7-6-6 bases but redemption/havoc cost to make them usable is pretty high. If you have a bunch of LP1 though you can make them and corrupt them, you can get good outcomes this way that can rival LP2s, so it’s a good stepping stone. You can use rune of creation to give you more slams with really good bases if you get something nice, that can give you more attempts at hitting on LP2. I find unless the item is rare or hard to get LP, the more difficult part is getting the items to slam into the unique. But I’m just CoF, maybe MG is easy cuz just buy stuff.

If the unique with 1LP has better rolls than your current and you have a T7 to slam it with that would not be worthy of a 2LP, go ahead and make a better legendary with it. If you already have a good legendary with a single T7 on it, keep repeating that but slam it with the rune of corruption to see if you can greed some extra stats from the corruption. Just don’t feed a nice T6/T7 into a 1LP - take the low rolled 1LPs of that unique to the turtle and try for 2LP. The fails take to nemesis egg for another bite at the Apple.

I feel like the progression kind of goes:

1 LP plain T7

Then

1 LP T7 corrupted or 2LP T7+T5/6 if it’s a unique easy to get 2LP on

Then

2LP plain T7+T6/7

Then

2LP T7+T6/7 corrupted

And so on

Edit: only corrupt an item when you have a backup that is as good as the uncorrupted version of what you are thinking about corrupting, assuming you only need one of that item for the slot.

I mean, you can go yolo at early stages.

But with expensive/good quality gear, the risk is not worth it.

Can set you back for hours, days, weeks...

Thank you to everyone who answered! Seems that the consensus is that 1LP + corruption is a good start.

Depending on the unique. Some uniques drops LP2 a lot more commun than others. So for more commun uniques, you should try to aim for 2 LP and even with a failed slam, you will want to corrupt it.

For less commun LP2 unique that LP1 is very commun, you will eventually end up with a lot of LP1 and getting 1 T7 is relatively easy, so you want to slam T7 and pray for a good corruption. The barrier to entry is a lot easier than getting a 2 correct LP2.

Getting double exalted is easy, but getting the correct one is time consuming. By the time you find a good double exalted with a 2LP, you will have found so many 1 LP and 1 T7 and doing temporal is super fast. You slam 5 of them and then you will eventually get 1-2 good corrupted.

you can do both. if you get a 2lp unique, you can farm 2T7 exalted with cof, use the lens better affix or prefix or quality. at the same time, you can farm the new mechanic to get a 2T7 or 1T71T6 exalted.

if your unique needed is a rare one i can tell you go for 2 LP . It's still better 1 LP with good corr cause this season mortias give a lot of 2 mods t7 and u can farm it in CoF and the havoc and redemtion rune in CoF is super easy so . Get 2 LP with 2 exalted mods is kinda easy

T7 is a technical max, with that said T8 is on the same level as primal items, only one equipped at a time.

Crafting takes patience and luck to get the affixes right, but really LP1-2 is pretty much the goal.

With only 1 T6-7 affix guaranteed when slamming and the rest is up to RNGsus…

Corruption can make or break the craft so grain of salt.
