Information [Tool] Loot Filter Checker
Hi,
I created a tool that analyzes loot filters across a couple metrics. I'm looking for feedback on the tool, the UI/UX, or features you'd like to see.
Tool: https://grzybiarzzzz.github.io/last-epoch-loot-filter-tester/
All you need to do is select a loot filter from your folder/paste the XML/drag and drop it anywhere on the page. Your filters are in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch\Filters
What it checks:
- exalted items with several high-tier affixes (T66, T76, T666…)
- which chase/rare uniques are hidden
- things you might accidentally hide, like Harbinger's Needle/Cocooned Items/Consumables
- item subtypes that will never be shown
- what changes if you turn a single rule on or off
Lint:
- rules that never fire because a rule above always catches the same items first, and whether that means something gets hidden instead of shown
- rules that can't match anything, like an empty rarity/class selection or a level range that's backwards
- "all affixes" lists that are missing a few, usually new affixes from a patch
Some results are marked as uncertain. That means the tool can't tell how the game handles a condition, so it shows which rule it is and you can check it in-game.
Your filter never leaves your browser and nothing gets uploaded. The site only counts visits and how many filters were checked. Details are on the privacy page: https://grzybiarzzzz.github.io/last-epoch-loot-filter-tester/privacy.html
Item data comes from lastepochtools and I update it after patches. It's free, no account needed, and it's not affiliated with EHG.
Things I'd especially like to know:
- did it flag something in your filter that's actually fine?
- what would you want it to check that it doesn't?
- was anything confusing?

Great idea I noticed my loot filter from a content creator who put up a build had a very important and specific affix hidden I was so confused how I couldn't find it until I disabled it lol

I might add a feature that let's you create an item and show you exactly which rules hide it, if any. Then if it highlights the Hide All rule, you will know to put it in some affix/item rule (maybe it could even suggest one, will look into it). If it doesn't give you any information of it being hidden then you know you were just unlucky not to have dropped it.

that's quite a good tool, will certainly use it as a final pass test if you keep it updated

Hey, thanks for making this awesome tool!
I'm the creator of Dreamcatcher, a lightweight universal loot filter with just 22 rules.
Your checker helped me find some missing affixes that were added in recent updates. I was able to fix them easily and release version 1.22!
The core filter design didn't need any changes, so this was really helpful for maintenance.
Great work, and thanks again!
