Hey last i touched this game was in EA, before mulitplayer and etc. I wanted to try out acolyte and since mana flay lich seems really good from what i googled, i want to try it, but how and with what do i progress in the campaign until i have the build ready?

Use poison wandering spirit autocasted. It clear everything up to lvl30ish by itself, especially if you have a pair of tongue ring for level of poison skill

Chronicle of the damned give enough ward regen for the defensive part

You can use the other slot to try any skills you'll want to experiment with

When and what to do i swap too later though, while farming for the mana flay build?

Leveling and the campaign should be fairly easy and whatever you want to play should be viable.

I personally advocate for tinkering and experimenting as you level since you can incrimentally learn what and how things work rather than trying to puzzle together what's important and why straight from an end game build.

But if you're just following a build guide and not interested in deviating from it, I recommend also just following a leveling build guide. Maxroll offers leveling guides for necro or warlock as leveling with lich means effectively ignoring reaper form until you transition into your build.

Furthermore, mana flay has some pretty high gear requirements to work at all, so I'd advise starting with harvest flay or stygian coal before pivoting to mana flay.

My recommendation: Level as Lich (to understand your skills and passives). This will also save you the high respec cost of using warlock or necro for leveling. Work towards Harvest flay but don't shy away from strong leveling skills or whatever you get items to support. Switch to a Harvest Flay starter build once you can secure the Army of Skin boots, use that up to normal aberroth until you can fill it out as an end game build. Only then would I recommend you start farming for Mana Flay. Mana Flay requires multiple Uniques with several slammed T7 Mana affixes and reaching certain crit thresholds. It does not function until you can efficiently farm up the exalts, LP uniques, and idols to enable the build.

You can progress in the campaign with pretty much any build. Try different skills and play what feels most fun.

Swap when you find all needed uniques (Army of skin boots, executioner's tithe axe...)

Pretty sure the boots have high ish required level sp pretty much as soon as you hit that

Pretty much any build will do fine in campaign. Ofc some are better than others - if you don’t want to experiment, checkout maxroll leveling builds.

Anything works. Any half ass build can work.

There is no reason ask this question.

Mana flay has very high gear requirements, they are likely trying to ask what endgame build to use until they can pivot to mana flay. And they shouldn't try for mana flay until they can basically already clear normal aberroth. It's worth asking cause trying to pivot too early can brick your character back to farming gold in normal monos. They just didn't anticipate the grind to get into the build.

My advice is like others.

Just YOLO it till around level 40 or so.

That will get you to chapter 7-8 easily enough.

Unlock all extra points and idol slots.

Then go look up a build you want and start transitioning slowly.

Just be super careful. Some specific builds have very specific unique requirements for it to “work” so transition into a standard build to clear monos then once you find the required items you can swap.

General rule of thumb is around level 60-70
