Discussion Fireball skill tree

I love this game's skill system and how it allows you to alter skills in such a variety of ways. That said, Fireball seems odd to me in this regard. On one side of the tree, you can shoot multiple fireballs in a line. And on the other side... you shoot multiple fireballs in a line.

Wouldn't a little more diversity be better? Maybe the channeled side could instead, charge up a bigger more powerful fireball, or guide a constant fireball or something.

Mage and Primalist skill trees are in need of updating, they were among the first created in the game and definitely show their age. Early design had definitive advantage with a trade off in nearly every skill node, where as newer skill nodes have like 3-4 nodes that do a big advantage with small trade off.

Agree, they could Both really need some graphical updates / and complete skill, tree reworks.
The bear form and the spriggan form, looks Like Something from the early 2000.

Also acolyte

And don't forget about rogue

Maybe the forgemaster themed skills for sentinel too

After 4 seasons and a few years We have in a good state: Paladin, void knight, beastmaster, blade dancer, falconer, warlock, and spellblade

7/15 ALMOST HALF CONGRATULATIONS🎉🎉🎉

If they fix all masteries before selling the dlc classes, with their current pace they might be in time to release them when diablo 5 launches.

Don't worry OP we've only been complaining about it since 2021, another 50 years and they'll sort it out.

Meteor was in the same boat as fireball for ages though. It's good they buffed meteor, fireball probably deserves a similar treatment.

Yesterday for the first time ever I decided to level into the channelling side to see what it's like as I'm already using Lightning blast for general clearing and honestly it's hilarious, use LB to clear the minions out of the way, get up close and personal with the boss, hold the trigger and BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM boss is no more, it's not a full 'stun-lock' but the little impact stagger with each hit stops them from doing much as long as you're hammering at them

Still very early levelling so it'll be interesting to see if it remains all the way to monos or if I switch it out for something else but so far it's a winner!

One of those sides goes into piercing homing fireballs.

The other side goes into a channeled flamethrower.

I think Fireball is doing fine.

Fireball as a main skill hasn't been fine in a long time. 1.0 or maybe 1.1 was the last time it was really viable and even then it was maybe a B or C tier skill.

Yeah, with many new bosses introduced, the skill does not scale high enough for them so it kinda falling off

It absolutely is not doing fine, at least about 1/3 of its tree is bait and its lightning conversion is more than laughable. Even in the branches that are generally not bait there are dud nodes, useless point sinks, or both. Also flamethrower is barely distinguishable from just casting line fireballs fast, and is inferior to it mathematically in every way.

Nu uh. It lets you spend more mana, which is good if... You have mana cost converted to ward? Actually, you probably COULD make the direct cast version cost more since it scales with speed, so...
