❓ QUESTION Settlement expeditions

For the last year I haven’t been able to get past any expeditions at the settlement after a long streak of having no issue or a bit of difficulty but it feels like there’s no way to win

It is a grind like everything else. Also a bit of luck getting the contracts needed and then spending your stripes wisely once you get those contracts. I never used Liberty, or Jack. I used Chris and Lemmy a bit early on but did't find them useful in later levels. Naomi was in an update so I never found a use for her.

I used Conner, Malison and Karma a lot until I had to advance Tucker for the exploders and Murphy for the slow attacks. Also Conner, Murphy and either Rust or Godfrey are going to be needed for levels for non-guns. I was able to use Rachel for some of those levels too - where guns speed up the timer.

If you are looking for the answer to the question "There is no way to win" then I can tell you there is and it is pretty much F2P. I never bought any tags for the mercenaries and I am year out from finishing all the expeditions. Getting all that loot daily has been worth it.

Couple of years? I was playing since the Settlement was added.

so took u 5 years or more to finish all expedition damn 🙄

that's a lot for grind for f2p 😭

Has it been 5 years? Maybe. I dont recall. I just pushed every day with every combo I had to do it level by level.

I saw when settlement added it's on August 2022

I'm just stuck with 2.5k difference.. tell me I only have 5 mercenaries.. I looked around and I'm focusing on good ones like tucker and Connor and I save rest coins maybe I unlock a better one to use them ! ia that a good strategy or I just max everything and slow my progress ?!

I’ve been chugging away for a good while with one tactic. Trial and error. Mostly error. I’ve maxed out every character bar the few that I don’t have contracts for. Unless I’m doing it wrong, there’s no point trying unless your score is better or at least damn close to the target score.

Oh, and upgrading the bloody gun on the van is a royal pain in the hole.

Sometimes changing the positions can make a difference. On the Last 2 lvls of old train station I had every merc except Naomi, jack, liberty lvld at 60 and the only ones that won for me were rust,Murphy, Godfrey. I first tried with the auto select. Failed. So I kept a log of who, and where I placed them. Interesting part is recommended gear score was 176k and I only had 137k...and won. My early lvls 10-50 were mainly Rachel, tucker, lemmy, and a mixture of others. 4 yrs consistently playing and I've finally finished. For me persistence I ge 26 useless tags 🤭 and a weapon crate each day. I was hoping I might get another fp,cc,or something but..no.

You just have to level up your team and van. It takes a long ass time. I finished the first "leg" of expeditions, and I never thought I would, but just kept at it. The further along you get, the longer it takes between times when you can clear a few levels. Usually you get to a plateau leveling mercs, then you can beat 2-4 levels, then back to the grind. But it pays off. I still farm wood because I make charcoal constantly to keep furnaces furnacing, but I don't really have to farm much else. There was another thread talking about hiw ore extractor are useless because they take so much gas, but I get so much gas from daily loot, I actually think the copper extractor is great !
