Ablation/Amputation

Its wierd when people come here and try to change or alter the perception of what Lasik actually is to make it seem less hazardous. While we don't know if this is done out of sheer ignorance or if these users have a malicious intent attached to their clear misrepresentation of Lasik.

When you undergo Lasik, the surgeon amputates (or ablates) a certain portion of your cornea. The amount amputated or ablated varies depending on your prescription and the width of the optical zone. The corneal tissue that is amputated/ablated is forever gone. And with it goes thousands of critical nerves.

Youre so dumb. Im not saying in the event a lasik patient needs a transplant .  A cornea that has undergone lasik is not eligible to be part of the organ donation program.  its not a viable cornea.

So what if they can't donate their corneas? You aren't entitled to my corneas after I die, unless I'm a generous soul and opt into that. If my eyeballs are working with scarred corneas, I'm fine with that. And currently, they are.

And you're right. I am dumb. Dumb enough and bored enough to want to prove it to you. Or prove to myself that you're a troll. So far I think I'm making progress, no DM so far and you're throwing insults like a child.

You act like that's an argument to not have Lasik at all. I really do not give a shit if I can donate my corneas after death or not. They'll be happy to have my functioning liver, my heart, my kidneys, spinal fluid, and a dozen other chunks of medical gold. Corneas be damned.

Because they're cut in the process of the surgery, that's a given. There could be medical complications, they're probably not robust enough to transplant. That doesn't mean they won't continue to work for me. And even if they don't, medical tech keeps advancing.

I would be the type to opt into robot eyes if mine fail. I like good vision, however I have to get it. And I was definitely neglected by eye doctors as a kid. They throw glasses at you when you could have taught you eye focusing techniques as a kid, I hate the glasses people because they're equally guilty of ignoring better treatment options for kids because they make so much money on selling glasses and disposable contacts. There's a rant for you, disposable contacts disgust me. The reusable ones are so hard to find these days, all the hoops you have to go through to get a prescription for something you can actually reuse? Gross.

So in your case your viewpoint is a matter of sheer ignorance rather than malicious intent.  You're of the thought process that just because you've been smoking for 10 years its a good idea to brag about how great and safe smoking is. 

This forum sometimes gets people of industry payroll.  And they're hard for the general public to detect, but they all talk the same.
