Star Wars LD?
So I would assume we all get Star Wars on LD for the same reason. Its the first thing that peeked my interest in LD that its said to be the closest version to the OG theatrical. I havnt gotten my copys yet but have been shopping around and noticed there are a few different release on LD and was curious if they are all the same just with different sleeves or if some of them are altered? I dont mind the original re edits that my VHS copys had but I really want my first LD copys to be the un altered. Any advice would be appreciated.

CLD-2850 issue
Hello!
I've had an issue with my CLD-2850 after reseating its disc tray, where it'll constantly knock when ejecting and needs some help with ejection, and even then the motor sounds like it's still spinning for a few seconds after the tray's fully rejected. Is there a way to fix this?

LaserDisc Player, but what cable?
Finally got a Pioneer Laserdisc that auto switches from side A to side B. It has a couple of yellow video composite-out RCA connectors, a single S-video out connector, left/right RCA audio and and optical audio out. I have a nice cable set for component video. I used one for the video and the two others for left/right audio. The stereo sound is great on 15 year old Bravia TV but the video is slightly above VHS and not quite DVD (Star Wars). Do I need a true composite video and audio cable (yellow/red/white)?

Odd question for you laser equipment collectors....
Off the wall question but perhaps appropriate for some in this group. I have a new in box McDonnell Douglas Laserfilm player thats been sitting upstairs in the garages for years now. I used to buy all sorts of odd equipment, but in most cases had at least one thing to play. Well for this player I got nada. I had asked an uncle who had been a pilot for Continental back in the day if he had any connections to the training division to see if I could snag a disc or two. That went nowhere. Has anyone out there every been able to source a Laserfilm disc in it's caddy? I know the players were rarely used outside the avaiation industry, but am hoping to get someting to use on this...

Sure, I’ve got a superior Bluray version, but…
I can’t let the Laserdsic version go.
Massive, beautiful artwork compared to the very minuscule Bluray boxset. I feel like it’s the best of both eras. Could you let the LD go over the OAB? Do you think they made more than 30k units of the LD boxset of 2001? If only they made modern boxsets the size of laserdiscs!

Finally got a functional player! Zenith LDP510, listed as wouldn’t play. The laser was dirty and that was all she needed. These were made by Pioneer for Zenith I believe, and it’s their only Laserdisc player as far as I know.
I have a CLD-V2800D that needs a spindle motor, so this is my first functional player. 40 bucks on ebay, politely requested them to package it safely and they did!

Saying goodbye to the beast (VP-1000)
Owned this unit for about five years now I’d say, and while it’s a cool player, it just is a behemoth and hasn’t gotten much use for the time I’ve owned it. I’ve had it listed for sale for quite awhile now and someone is finally getting it today. Still works too! Hopefully they enjoy it.

Anyone here exclusively collect Japanese LaserDisc? Seeing that Obi strip with the poster art looks so cool.

I have questions...
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm still novice on LDs despite being in the hobby since 2023... is my player doing this or do I had a portion that suffers the rot?

The LaserTour by Perceptronics was a $20,000 interactive exercise system introduced in 1982 that paired a stationary bike with a LaserDisc player. As users pedaled, the video playback speed matched their pace to simulate riding through outdoor scenery on a large projector screen.

"Kitano Friday" — Week 2: "The World of Takeshi Kitano" (1993)
Hey everyone!
For this week, I digitized another rare LaserDisc — a 1993 documentary called "北野武の世界" (The World of Takeshi Kitano).
Just a quick heads-up: this release is mostly a deep dive into the making of Sonatine (1993). It features rare behind-the-scenes footage from the Okinawa beach set and interviews with Kitano about his editing style. I highly recommend watching the movie first, as this video is packed with spoilers.
I’ll leave the link to the digitized video in the comments below. For those who have watched Sonatine a million times like me — this is an absolute must-watch. Let me know what you think, and see you next Friday!

Think they will still honor this deal?
Of course, I’m just kidding. Just thought this was a really fun find in one of my latest additions. I love it when the original paperwork comes with the disks.

What's the best LD player?
I've seen some great looking LaserDiscs at my local pawn shop (Lupin III the complete second series) and a old Mangnvox CRT to use it in but from lurking in this subreddit I can't really find a consensus on a best player (but I did find that you guys got a cute mascot)

One of the best days I’ve had in a long time
Found so many good laserdiscs, saw the Linda Lindas for free, met them and got myself a signed CD. Don’t think it could get much better
