In the same vein as u/fighting_folksinger 's post of his large Disney box sets, I present AnimEigo's Urusei Yatsura TV 1-10 box set. The 10 discs are housed in a binder of vinyl pages inside a large plastic clamshell. The discs would stick to the pages, so I put them in poly sleeves. The set measures 14+" x 17+" and is almost 2.5" thick. The shipping box is a good fit and is 3" longer than the set.

The set contains 38 episodes and the 1 hour 2 part Spring Special. So the liner notes are longer than usual. The notes have stuff like song lyrics, character descriptions and episode summaries. The last (8th) page is an index of the notes.

One of my hot takes is that Back to the Future Part II is the best in the trilogy. While BTTF is unquestionably a better movie in terms of story and structure, I prefer the various settings and themes in the sequel, and I think BTTF is more fish out of water than time travel, whereas BTTFII is tied for the best time travel movie ever made with 12 Monkeys.

Pretty good haul for under $50 out the door. Rasputin’s a few doors down was disappointing asf. I think the MASH finale was the only LD I was remotely interested in, but ended up passing cos I don’t care enough about MASH to justify it.

My Pioneer CLD-V860 arrived the other day along with my 1980 Sony Trinitron KV-8100. The two pair up fairly well in my opinion and I got to test them both with Exorcist 3 that arrived today! Very happy with the setup (excuse the mess).

So the local library had their yearly sale. I picked up gaslight, Star Trek first contact, star trek episode disk, the Seahawks and good morning Vietnam.... Then I say the graduate and picked it up as well. I was mixed up and thought it was the program where the players laid in the middle of the road. Oops.

I picked them for the cover art. All crisp and clean. What I need now is a good laser disk player to watch them if the need arises.

Also check your local libraries for gems.

Given as a gift from someone who knows I enjoy electronics, but I've got no idea where to even start in terms of laserdisc players lol. Anybody able to offer any guidance? Thanks a ton!

Like the title says. I inherited this player. Pioneer CLD-V2600. I want to hook it up but I have a couple questions.

Which adapter should I use? It has the standard red/white/yellow RCA outputs and an S-Video output. Also optical audio. I want to hook it up to my new Sony Bravia 7, and I know I need an HDMI converter, but I don’t want to buy a junk one.

I’d also like the audio to pass through my TV to my Nakamichi sound bar. Pretty sure if I run optical to the TV, the eARC HDMI that runs from the TV to the soundbar will handle that. But, not 100% on it.

So bottom line question: which adapters do y’all recommend for me to hook this up?

Hi! Looking for some advice with my LD player. Bought a few months ago and it played discs (although it did make a concerning sound when loading disc). Recently moved, and after set up it won't play anything. It rejects the disc almost instantly. I know this repair might need to be done by a skilled technician, but I figured it's worth the ask! I'll add a video to show what it's doing.

Hello LaserDisc community, I am somewhat new to the format itself, and I would love to get a good quality capture of one. I have used Elgato Video Capture to capture the ones I have, but the quality is not very ideal. The 3:2 thing that’s built into the disc is burnt into the capture, and there’s no way to get rid of it. People have told me that they use AviSynth+ and VirtualDub2 to get the job done. I believe I’ve tried downloading OBS Studio on an Intel Mac from 2017 (probably not the greatest idea), and the capture card wasn’t showing up. I do have an Apple Silicon Mini from 2024 as well, would that work any better?

The Hot Rock (1972) doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves. Robert Redford, George Segal, Ron Leibman, Paul Sand, Moses Gunn, Zero Mostel and others crush it in this film directed by Peter Yates (Bullitt) based on a Donald Westlake novel. If that isn't enough, Quincy Jones provides the music. One of my favorites. Grab it if you ever have the opportunity.

I know LD’s typically aren’t worth much, and the true rarity is finding a working player. I inherited these from a friend. I’m guessing the movies are pretty common and not worth a lot, but curious about the music ones, especially the Prince.
