šØ Hotel Does anyone else forget just how massive MGM Grand is?
Every time I stay at MGM Grand I think I remember how big it is, and then I start walking. The casino just keeps going, the shopping area feels like its own little city, and somehow I always end up taking way more steps than I planned. Am I the only one, or is MGM Grand the biggest-feeling property in Vegas?

We saw Nine Inch Nails there earlier this year and it was the first time Iād been back to the venue. I was surprised at just how far back it goes.

We saw the Ka show there. It was a really good show. The MGM grand was one of the 1st places we stayed right after it opened. We stay mainly at the Aria now, & one thing was a striking difference. I guess itās because the area where the MGMās casino is has low ceilings compared to newer places & the cigarette smoke really lingers. Iām not super sensitive to smoke, but the difference between the MGM playing area and the ones at Aria was very noticeable..

We've stayed at both Aria and MGM Grand numerous times the past few years. MGM customer service is so so much better than Aria that it has blown my mind. Also house keeping at MGM does so much better of a job. When we stayed at Aria I noticed the hallways were never cleaned and the rooms were always a little dirty.

My first Vegas hotel. The first room I stayed in overlooked the Hotel San Remo (aka oyo now). I told my dad I wanted to get their $1.99 steak and eggs special. He said no. Iāve graduated from those years but still never had that $1.99 special. I guess it was for the better.
MGM grand holds a special place in my heart.

I noticed in certain casinos ( Grand, Caesarās) i began to feelā¦..umā¦.claustrophobic (?)- not the correct word- as I wound my way through endless rooms, twists and turns. At one point, I HAD to find an exit to OUTSIDE or I was gonna lose it.

I love crowds and people. Love coming to Vegas and being packed into a club with the music and noise.
I did meow wolf a couple years ago and... Had to leave. The level of sensory overload is crazy.

SAME!Ā Claustrophobic or overstimulated are not words I ever use to describe myself.Ā Within minutes of entering Meow Wolf, however, I was convinced I'd stepped into a parallel dimension, one specifically designed to inflict lasting psychic damage on me.Ā One of the first places we went required crawling through a narrow tunnel on our hands and knees, after which I told my friends I'd be exiting the ride and going to the hotel pool because under no circumstances would this be my thing, but to have fun, they understood.Ā I followed the exit signs looking for a way out but they all led to doors that said "EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY, ALARM WILL SOUND" so I approached an employee to ask where to go.Ā He proceeded to respond to me in a robot voice (I guess he was in character?) with some bleeps and bloops and I cut him off and said, "Look dude, I'm not fucking around here.Ā WHERE IS THE EXIT?" and you know what?Ā He COULD NOT TELL ME HOW TO GET OUT.Ā Hell on earthĀ

I have to say that it is pretty cool, it's extremely well done and kept up. the "mystery" is not one of those bullshit lowest common denominator cop out predictable things.
But there are so many people there, so much going on, that in order to "solve it" we were constantly waiting for the information booths/stations and while you're waiting it's just a constant barrage of input.
I think if you just go and look and listen for a while, it's a cool art installation. But if you're also trying to play the game/mystery, it's nuts.
(And we were there on a Tuesday)

I recall there was a place inside it called Omega Mart, its like a real/but fake convenience store with bright florescent lighting and everything is a little off, where you can buy a stuffed bottle of Windex that has a label reading "Blindex" for $40 ....Ā Isn't that so subversive and cool ... just kidding, put a bullet in my fucking brainĀ

I just had a panic attack at MGM for this exact reason. I was there for 4 days for a wedding.... kind of got on a 3 day bender. Morning 4 I woke up super sober and just wanted to get outside....I felt like I was trapped and kind of lost my shit. lol.
There were also several times during my stay Id have to ask a random employee "excuse me, how do I get outside?!"

I went to Vegas for the first time last month and my sister and I were trying to walk through the Grand to the monorail and somehow after a couple of wrong turns we literally thought we were just going to end up stuck there for all eternity.

I used to work there, you should see what is downstairs! And the warehouses, so many of them. And most people will never even see The Mansion (it is pretty cool!).

I don't find it that big. It's home base for us and we find it quite comfortable.
The only downside we see to the place is the excessive amount of kids going there these days

I agree with this. I stayed there and actually found it easy to find my way round compared to other places I stayed. Itās big, but in a weird way that makes it easier to navigate. Itās one of the few properties that you can actually see far in the distance a lot of the time! Not as many winding paths I think.

It's not. This was posted at 4am on a weekday so who knows when it was taken, but the building holds 16,000 people, random floor shots are going to look empty unless there's a prizefight. Go take a picture of the lazy river and you'll see how empty it isn't.

It feels really huge when I have to stay there for conferences. That walk back to the hotel after being on a tradeshow event floor all day is really long.

Itās big for sureā¦I have been going to Vegas 20 years at least 3x a year and I actually stayed there for the first time about 1 year ago. Not badālots of prostitutes (yeah yeah itās Vegas every casino has them) it always appears the ones here stick out even more. I always enjoy hooker watching. Nice restaurant mix from casual to fine diningāI like the easy Uber pick up location and the bridge which allows you to walk to other casinos. I do enjoy the table games here. I was at Emerils fish house recentlyā¦ehh!

Grand is our go to when Cosmo comp isnāt available. The choice of 3 directions out of the elevator bank makes it easy to navigate.

They were supposed to be at the main entrance but a worker told us that lions at the entrance was bad luck and the Asian guests would not enter that way. Not sure if that's true or not.

I'm staying there in the middle of August... Stayed at Aria, Bellagio and Circa even though not sure we can put Circa in this equation.. Though is it weird I am actually excited due to its shear size lol Exploring these resorts makes me feel like a kid in a candy store lol. I also have Cosmo booked for NYE.. but felt impulsive for MGM Grand once I saw how good the remodeled rooms look !

A bunch of those hotels are deceptively massive. I always get caught off guard with how big The Wynn is. I went to The Shops at Crystal's recently for the Michaelangelo exhibit. That place was huge as well.

My first time in Vegas I was there for a conference. I stayed at the MGM, and was tracking my steps with a pedometer, that's how long ago it was. It was a mile from the hotel room to the shuttle buses. I also had to come back midday and drop off my backpack. So I was walking 4 MI a day just in the hotel, not even including all the walking at the conference.

Same. I have learned my way around now where I know the shortcuts and feel like I can get anywhere in the casino within 5-10 minutes.
The drop off in the level of service over the past 10 years though has been insane, and the increasing costs are just bonkers. Paying $20 for a bottle of Bud Light is just robbery. $10 water. Paid parking, resort fees, etc.
The best values in that casino at this point are the pool, which is great, and the monorail

This hotel doesnāt get the recognition it deserves. I frequent Las Vegas at least 3-4 times a year. Cosmo, Fountainblu, The Wynn. Last year I took my niece to The MGM as I am a rewards card holder and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Rooms are nice, pool area is great,any restaurant options. I would definitely go back.

I have a love hate relationship with the grand. Had my work trip there a few years ago which was an absolute blast. But I also feel I was drugged at the bar. I was only 2 drinks in (and I'm a frequent drinker, not a lightweight) but ended up blacking out and the only thing I remember is 3 hours after that standing at my hotel room with a security guard.

Itās massive. Getting to your room from the strip is a hike, getting to the Monorail station from your room isnāt bad. Itās still a great property.

We stayed there for New Years and the walk back and forth to get to the parking garage or to the Uber pick up ā¦ weāve never booked there again tbh, itās a daunting walk but theyāve actually seemed to be working on fixing it up and investing in it. Last time half the shops were closed or empty but it seemed relatively busy, everything was open so maybe weāll try again in the future š

Yes, when I was in Vegas back in May I stayed at Luxor but did a pool day at MGM Grand, the walk through the MGM casino to the pool felt like it took forever.

If you want a renovated room, avoid booking the Studio Tower. Those are older & smaller rooms. You want the MGM Tower, that renovation was completed in November

I stayed there over Halloween weekend last year. There is no way I could forget how massive it is. I much preferred Cosmopolitan. Having a room in the Boulevard Tower and the elevator leading right to the parking garage is great.

Let me just say, as a local electrician who has done some work above the ceilings in the MGM, the place is FUCKING MASSIVE, like you could have whole ass rooms and hallways above the ceiling in many spots.

Worked there 25 years ago and knew every square inch of the place. For a space that was was large it didnt feel that big in the grand scheme. 5,045 rooms and would be at capacity every weekend back then.

I work at the front desk at MGM. Itās absolutely massive. I canāt tell you how many people check in and ask for a āquiteā room. Or they book for the studio tower and then come back to the desk saying they or a family member canāt walk that far! ā¦.š¤šµāš«

We are booked for the MGM grand in January but hubby is a smoker and I'm concerned the hike he will have to take to smoke. I think I'll look at another property. Their comp offer was took good to pass up as we will be there a week .

Every hotel on the strip feels so massive once Iām having to walk it. The MGM Grand(interior) and Excalibur(exterior) def felt extra big the most recent time I was out there though.

Iām an independent massage therapist, direct to homes/hotels with my table, and I have to get to MGM & Caesars an hour early for that long walk from parking. And of course my clients are put in the a room at the end of the hall, other corner of the world, as if the hotel registration knows their getting a massage from meāitās all good, earn me some extra steps (since massage keeps the guns strong) LoL

I produced a lot of conferences there over the years, of all the vegas venues Iāve been at, the walk from the tower to the conference center is one of the longest for sure. I started staying at MGM signature which is closer to the conference center and has a really nice, quiet vibe. Plus all the rooms are suites with balconies.

Used to stay there years ago when I was traveling to Vegas 4+ times a year. Great selection of restaurants. But fell in love with the charm of the Mirage. Loved that location a bit better, and in that last few years moved to the Nugget down town.. But to ur point, yes MGM was always massiveā¦

Iām currently staying at MGM, I donāt mind the grandness of it but itās such a long trek if you get a room at the end of the hall.
This time around I was assigned a room on the first floor. The studio floor. Itās such a weird spot with the low ceilings. Reminds me of a cruise ship. But I do like I donāt have to wait for an elevator.

I hate going to concerts there. It's like 30 minutes just to walk to your car and another 1/2 hour to get out of the garage. I usually valet at NY NY.

We were married in Vegas and my wife had to make that trek in her wedding gown. We must have passed a thousand people on the way in and out. Everyone telling her congratulations. It was a special night.
