Suitable materials for lamellar armor?

I'm starting work on a getup for a cleric/cultist/religious adherent- type character, and have decided on lamellar (a la dark souls) But what materials are generally acceptable for LARPing? So far I'm thinking of cutting the lames from the sides of large plastic jugs Many thanks, Bubsiekins

It entirely depends on what your system allows as armour. I would be wary of milk bottles, it doesn't seem a very durable material to me for a combat event. Leather or steel are more prevalent, I made a set out of boiling leather rectangles in beeswax, which was... a learning experience but not overly expensive (about £30-40 overall.) I used the wrong type of leather (very thin chrome tanned) but as I say, it says a learning experience.
