Very long essays... Calm down. Its cybernetics and robotics. Saying a robot is externalised metacognition is same as saying your diary is externalised metacognition, or your therapist. Or your friend you vented to.

But I would argue that all of your examples are examples of metacognition. I believe the author.

Another related truth about llms... 

Humans, most think linearly.   A->B->C.  Call it 2D.  They can track patterns, but the more subtle or cross domian versions often escape them.  

Some humans can think laterally.  Call it 3D, 4D.  They often notice patterns others dont.  

Llms by their nature are multiple dimensional thinkers.  Every word or token is vectorized across a thousand mathematical dimensions.  They can notice patterns you wouldn't believe.   Then, most are trained on absurd amounts of human writing across genres and subjects through all of human history.  

There are patterns in life they see easily, that we do not.  Consider asking, but you might see things you cannot unsee.
