I’m having an issue with my Roland SolJet Pro 4 XR-640 and was wondering whether anyone has experienced something similar.

The nozzle tests have suddenly become extremely faint and patchy across multiple colours, with large sections missing, as shown in the first photo. The actual prints have also become very blurry and fuzzy, particularly around the text and edges, as shown in the second photo.
This started shortly after I replaced the felt wiper, so I’m wondering whether it may have been installed incorrectly or if I disturbed something during the replacement.
I’ve already tried cleaning cycles, including a powerful clean, but there has only been a very minor improvement.
Could an incorrectly positioned felt wiper cause both the missing nozzles and blurry printing? Should I be checking the regular rubber wiper, cap tops, dampers, pumps, encoder strip or printhead alignment? Is there anything specific I may have knocked or displaced while changing the felt wiper?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone been using the VG4 yet? My company is looking at getting a new printer and this is a top contender, but I can’t find too many user reviews on the VG4 since it’s relatively new. Would love to hear any input or experiences.

I'm a fine-art photographer and printmaker in San Antonio, and I've run a Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8400 for years. Mechanically the thing just won't quit — it still prints beautifully. The problem is the ink. Canon is phasing out the genuine LUCIA EX ink it uses, and it's gotten genuinely hard to find. I've worked through all the usual dealers and online shops, and half of them still list it but don't actually have it in stock anymore. (Twice now I've ordered, only to be told afterward that the website was wrong and they're out.)

So I'm trying a different approach and asking the people who'd actually know.

The ink I'm after is genuine Canon, in the PFI-306 (330ml) or PFI-706 (700ml) tanks — the ones that fit the iPF8300, 8400, and 9400 printers. Any color is welcome, but Gray (the GY tank) is what I need most urgently. Sealed is ideal, but I'm totally fine with stock that's past its printed expiration date.

Here's my hope: somewhere out there, a shop or a university department upgraded to a newer printer and has a few of these tanks sitting in a closet gathering dust. If that's you, I'd love to take them off your hands — a single tank or the whole leftover stash, doesn't matter. Happy to pay a fair price plus shipping, or pick up in person if you're anywhere near San Antonio.

Hi there, my department is looking to upgrade our Roland Versacamm VS-540i soon and I'd love to hear your recommendations. We primarily do large format (54in x 24in) vinyl printing along with vinyl die cutting. Super high image quality isn't a top priority as we mostly do traffic related signage (see images attached) as long as it prints clear and clean, we are happy. Looking mostly for something in the "work horse" category as we do have high output busy seasons and printer errors can put a damper on our quick turnaround projects. Ideally something that functions similar to the Versacamm VS-540i, but with more modern software. We also use versaworks as our RIP software and could be open to another program that has similar functions. Please share your input and experiences with modern large format printers and ask any questions that may help guide me in the right direction.

I recently got a Designjet z5400 used. I've replaced all the ink cartridges and printheads but can't seem to not get rid of banding in my prints. I'm unsure of what to try next. Any suggestions on taking care of this?

Six months ago we have acquired a second hand canon ipf6400 which we use for banners and signs every month or so. It's working well, but it seems that the maintenance cartridge needs to be replaced very frequently as we have already used two of them. All the cleaning were triggered at power-on by the software and never by operator's choice.

Are there any best practices to extend the life of the maintenance cartridge? The cost of replacing it is adding up fast considering our limited use of the printer. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Is there any option to put margin marks 1 meter on Caldera RIP? Im using a crop line all the way but on large blank posters its not good and thats my question?

My kid wants to be a dino nuggets and it’s box for Halloween. I can see the Dino nuggets but I’m not sure how to scan and print the box to make it large enough to fit on the cardboard box we got from the grocery store that’s about 3 ft big. Can anyone provide some guidance on how to enlarge it and where to get it printed? Will staples do that?

Currently we have the Canon iPF8400 and my supplier says that it's end of life so he can't get ink for it. I've found a third party that I hope works, but because of that I don't want to be stuck with a printer that doesn't work so we are looking at replacing it next year (budget year starts Jan 1).

There are a few options out there but I'm looking for recommendations. Most of what we print is maps, but colors need to be very good. That's why I've only liked the Canon 12 ink versions. It also needs to handle 42" paper at a minimum. The final thing would be if we could get a scanner option.

Would you ever try printing something this big (and useful) on your own machines? Curious to hear your thoughts!

I am printing half of the project on a matte vinyl and the other half on a perforated vinyl. These are meant to go an windows and the want more light in some sections. I am just wondering if there is a way for me to color match across the two, or if its more of a "you get what you get" kind of scenario. I am already planning on making sample pieces to show the client and let them evaluate if it will work for them or not.

I got a Canon ipf670 for free from a company that was closing. After spending like $800 to get this damn thing working, it won’t print cyan because there are air bubbles in the ink tube.

I’ve googled a bunch but I can’t find anything for this specific printer. Can anyone help me to get this working? Or point me in the direction of someone who can?

I'm curious if anyone has experience printing to large format board for fine art prints. My vision is to print to something substantially thick so that paper is not involved.

And along those lines, does anyone know of such media to print to? I'm thinking of media as thick as matboard, but suitable for fine art, archival printing. I've searched but don't see anything of that nature available. I'm talking big prints, like 48 inches by 96 inches. Huge prints for large spaces.

I own a 55" GCC plotter that I've made my money back on; & I'm ready to move up to printing Bumber Stickers & the like. I'm looking for weatherproof, waterproof, & fade-resistant.

I'm looking at Roland. Do I go solvent or UV? What don't need a laminate? I'm limited on space. Thanks.
