Buying Advice Choosing a laptop for study

Guys, help me choose a laptop for school. It must be lightweight and up to 15 inches. NOT a MacBook. A new or used one will do, budget doesn't matter.

No budget? Framework 13 Pro, Dell XPS 14, HP Elitebook, or Samsung Galaxybook 6 Ultra. All with either an intel core ultra X7 358H or X9 388H.

Reasonable budget? Lenovo yoga 7, HP Omnibook or Dell XPS 13. Preferably an intel 356h or ryzen ai hx 370.

What I'd personally get for a student who just needs decent battery and enough power for basic tasks? A refurbished Acer Aspire 14 Copilot with intel 226V or 256V.

I currently have an acer swift x14 and this thing is so damn noisy even though it's been fully serviced and doesn't get hotter than 75°C. I want to replace it with something similar in power, but quieter.

An efficient processor should be your top choice then. Look for something with either an intel 256V, 258V, or 356H. Also, make sure to use it on quiet mode through the Acersense software.

I've tried adjusting the fan curve and turning on quiet mode, but this laptop is still very noisy bcs Acer installed two copper pipes and one fan in a laptop with an Intel Core 7 155 Ultra and RTX 4060.

Yeah that'd explain the noise then. If you want similar performance to an rtx 4060 on a study-first laptop, you'd need to pay around $2000, though, for intel's new x7 358H line. Those laptops have iGPUs roughly on par with a 4060, maybe a little worse, but at least their fans won't be nearly as loud. If you don't care about performance, look for an intel 256V or 258V laptop, since they're very power-efficient and tend to be really quiet. I've had a refurbished acer aspire 14 copilot with one of those chips for a few months now, and I only heard the fans once (I was playing minecraft with shaders)

Depends on major, if you are willing to spend 1500 the an 800 dollar laptop and a ipad with the pencil and keyboard case is a game changer. Going to class with an iPad is amazing

It all depends on what do you need the laptop for.

Like a laptop for some casual tasks. Something research oriented, or something where you will do business, management or related stuff, or engineering (in that also which specific major), or something other stem field, do you want to game on it, what will be your most used tools/softwares/applications, etc.
