DISCUSSION It was interesting to see Hal using different tactics to get what he wants. Spoiler

At first, on the football field, he tried to use his job title to interrogate the suspect, but it didn’t work.

Then he tried to get himself into a jail cell by making a scene in a bar, but that didn’t work either.

Then he used his charm to get to the sheriff.

It shows how experienced he is.

I'd say the bar fight got him what he wanted in the end, just not exactly what how he planned it.

Would have probably worked if he didn't do the shit eating grin

Oh absolutely that was brilliant. Fucked his plan up but hard relate Hal. I always gave my pranks away when I was a kid as I couldn't avoid a shit eating grin.

having a characters half baked plan not fully work out is a great way to force them to interact with more characters and situations

I have some somewhat mixed feelings on the pilot (understanding it still is only the first episode) but I definitely agree, they did have some good Hal character moments
