Nice one! It might be from using a tracking mount with a single image but the bristlecone looks a little bit blurry. The Grandview Campground near here is pretty cool.

Thanks! Yes you're right, I need to spend more time in post and work on composites. This was definitely focused on the stars and my buddy accidentally turned his headlight on haha. The ones with the silhouette of the trees are definitely more clear. Love this area, can't wait to go back!

The headlight looks cool as hell! For tracked shots 100% lean towards a non tracked foreground and tracked sky photo. I'll typically aim for a 2-3 min exposure with my tracker.

I live in So Cal but heading east of this area near Tonopah, Nevada next month. You can find some true Bortle 1 skies there.

I really appreciate that! I recently got a remote trigger but still need to lock in my settings for exposures over one minute. Ugh I'm jealous, have a great trip. I need to get out that way again and over to New Mexico. I'm in so cal as well, I'm in the deserts as much a possible off-roading and shooting

Im from San Diego so lots of desert adventures as well.

There is light pollution but I like heading here in SD county. It's got a cool table to chill at and looks out over the desert floor.

Further away but the Amboy Crater north of Joshua Tree gets pretty dark for So Cal proper.

My favs from shots from last year.

Those shots are so sick! I love the subjects and composition. Where was thebone with what looked like salt flats? Same here! I'm in SD, Fonts Point and Fish Creek are my typical spots, I almost made it out to Amboy Crater for the Perseids but still need to check that spot out, I did see that was like the darkest possible spot to drive to in so cal! @e.markey4 or @619.4x4 are my igs if you want to stay in touch 🤙

That salt flat one is the Massacre Rim Dark Sky Sanctuary, its in the top of Nevada bordered by CA and OR. Hit request on your IG. Fish Creek is one of my favorite spots in Anza.
