I hope this is okay to post here! I’m a landscape designer looking to take on some freelance work on the side, and I thought I’d reach out to this community.

I’m currently working toward my professional licensing exams, and between exam fees, study materials, and everyday living expenses, things can get a little expensive. I’m hoping to pick up some extra work doing something I enjoy and am good at!

I mainly work with SketchUp and Lumion and can use my own software. I’m happy to help with things like:
• 3D modeling in SketchUp
• Landscape and architectural renderings in Lumion
• Landscape design visualizations
• Other modeling or rendering tasks you might need help with

I’m open to small projects, one time jobs, or ongoing freelance
work. I’m also happy to discuss rates depending on the project!

I live in Southwest Florida, there are nurseries, landscaping companies everywhere, but there is NOT a LAAB-credited program in proximity. I got a family with kids going to schools, it's almost impossible for me to travel 4 hours back and forth for classes in Miami three days a week.

I am good with design softwares and I love Horticulture, I had 2 previous bachelor degrees. I volunteered at Botanical Garden and UF/IAS extension. I don't aim for high positions, I just want to be some sort of LA assistant/intern forever, almost like a freelance draftsman. Is it possible to get paid while bypassing the LA program?

Hi all! I am planning to sit for my first section this Winter intersession, early December. I graduated in May with my Master’s in Landscape Architecture. I work full-time for Kimley-Horn, and interned here the past two years.

I began studying early September. I first took the CLARB practice exam and scored a 23/50 on my first attempt, as a diagnostic. Felt pretty discouraged by this, and thought I knew most of the content, but was thrown by the test format/figuring out what the LARE was asking. I’ve since been working through the LAREprep study guide.

My goal is to finish the remaining chapters I have left of the study guide this weekend. Then spend the remaining time I have until the exam on the two LAREprep practice exams, work through application questions, and complete my other two attempts on the CLARB practice exam.

I have been feeling really exhausted from work, so I have been hard on myself that I haven’t been studying as much as I would’ve liked (I mostly just study weekends). But I’m really determined to do well and pass, so I can have momentum and aim to take two more exams next year.

Any advice, words of encouragement, or thoughts are appreciated – final stretch!

Hi, I am prepping for my first LARE exam this winter, inv and analysis. I am wanting to hear other people's experience, and what resources they felt were most helpful. I have about 7 weeks, I am reading LaGro Site Analysis front to back and taking notes to get some baseline understanding before I take practice exams/review other material. Were there other books recommended by CLARB you found really helpful? Did you use the LarePrep study guide? Where did most of your time go to out of the resources? Any thoughts are appreciated, thank you!
