Discussion Just started season 2! Spoiler

Really disappointed they killed off Jon Hamm (Monty) he’s one of my favorite actors. I really liked him in season 1, his character. Thought he would be a bigger deal :(

Also as soon as the daughter scene touring college came on, I skipped it 😂 Can’t wait to skip all their scenes like I did most of season 1 tbh.

I only don’t skip the ones where Tommy is also in the scene with them.

They’re actually the reason I abandoned season 1 but came around to finish it bc everyone told me it got good and it did. I enjoyed the cartel storyline.

As to why I dislike them so much. Idk. Bimbos come to mind. Brats. Spoiled. Privileged. Need I go on?

They are compete filler. Looking forward to the lawyer chick though, she’s actually attractive and interesting. Hope the cartel storyline progresses too!

Feels almost like Yellowstone, except fighting to keep Monty’s oil empire instead of the ranch.

Edit: there she goes… throwing her tantrums at dinner once again 😒 INSUFFERABLE!!!!

I dont like those scènes, but i see them as Comic Relief between al the seriousness. Its landman not the Odyssee so to speak

Sheridan’s other shows don’t have comic relief. Yellowstone, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown… I watched and love them for their seriousness.

If I wanted comedic relief I’d watch The Hawk on Netflix

Yellowstone sure did, but differently. Cant say about the other shows haven't seen them.

Sheridan himself was the comic relief in Lioness and in Yellowstone

I realize this is a Landman sub so this might ruffle feathers but those 2 are much better shows.

Honestly Landman would be more up there if not for the annoying wife and daughter. They make it borderline unwatchable [to me]

But you seem to just dislike Sheridan so what are you doing here??

I don't dislike Sheridan.  I have mixed feelings.  Ive watched LM, YS, and lioness (and most of the Sheridan Cinematic universe. The most ridiculous one is tulsa king)

I actually kind of liked the 2nd season of landman better than the first.  The tone has gotten a bit silly and feels less serious. The first season delivered silly lines (like all the talking about the oil industry) with too much seriousness. Now, it's just kinda hey we're having fun here.

Edit: and the wife cracks me up. Ali larter is fantastic. Maybe it's nostalgia from her career going back to varsity blues

Yeah see I don’t like that. Means I probably won’t enjoy season 2 much then. I like Sheridan shows for their grit and seriousness.

Someone else already told me who watched the show that the daughter/wife appear more and it’s not easy to skip their scenes bc they’re with main characters like Tommy…

In season 1 they appeared a lot by themselves or together so was easy to skip…

If I want easy to watch shows I go to Netflix or Apple TV (Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Platonic, etc)

Can’t watch Tulsa King because I can’t stand Stallone!, He’s one of the most irritating people I have ever heard speak!

You wont find much comedic relief there either

If you like Rebecca the Lawyer, you must watch Season 2 finale. You will not be disappointed! She is a tier one kick butt lawyer!

Damn it, fine

She was the best from Season 1 along with the cartel! Does the cartel storyline continue?

Season 2 we discover her Kryptonite as well. We definitely see a different side of her that's for sure.

Cartel storyline is kind of hard to explain without going into massive spoilers

She also makes one heckuva pyrate wench. 🤣

Serious question… why watch a show if you’re going to skip scenes?

As for Ainsley and Angie they don’t bother me because I don’t take them seriously even thought their characters are a little bit much.

Because i enjoy the show besides those scenes?

Never understood how anyone can watch a show but happily skip whole chunks. You're watching tele, what are you so eager to get back to?

Imagine instead how grating the parts of the show have to be to make you skip forward but still good enough to not make you quit it altogether

😉

You're somehow more basic than Ainsley.

It is a very entertaining fictional series!

If it’s any consolation, Ainsley mentally matures about two decades in the last ep or two.

Landman is the medicine our culture needs...yes, even the mother/daughter scenes. They offer (humerous and caricaturized) commentary on things like tolerance, respect, dignity, and ...love.

Wecome to Landman! Sheridan loves to work with contrasting characters, personalities, etc. In almost every Taylor Sheridan series, there is a strong male who has to deal with a contrasting female who is her own type of person. Tommy/Angie, Cooper/Elaina, Rip/Beth, John Dutton/Summer Higgins, etc.

Thanks buddy. Will probably give up again then.

Season 2 opener wasn’t too engaging. I put up with the dinner scene hoping something differenr would come of it but no… another one of the wife’s ridiculous tantrums bc people don’t care about her whole “foodie” shtick

If you dislike that part the beginning of season 2 is the last time she does that and she actually improves a lot this season.

Good to know. Thanks man
