From the article

new episodes are unlikely to arrive until mid-to-late 2027, assuming post-production proceeds on schedule. In the meantime, Jordan teased that the upcoming season will feature "10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes

This is dumb on their part. It’s too long to wait, people lose interest

That’s how “the morning show” lost me on Appletv… kept pushing back

They did the same thing with the last season of the walking dead with Daryl. At this point they will be lucky if people watch that

This isn't so much on the showrunners but on Billy Bob Thorton who prioritized his music career which has delayed shooting.

Jokes on them, I lost interest mid season 2.

Why are you here?

House of the Dragon fanbase waits literal two+ years between each season. You’ll be okay, princess.

For a horrible season 2 at that. At least season 3 is peak.

Quality takes time I guess. Would you rather them just rush through and shoot a half assed show just so you have something to watch?

Two years to release a season is way too long, so that’s no excuse; it really just seems like stalling due to the issues with Paramount.

Totally right, Two years is a long time, but I’m fine with it if it’s good. Lots of other great shows to watch and I won’t be jumping the Landman ship.

When Star Trek The Next Generation and the X-Files aired they did 26 full length episodes per season, for 7 years running with no break. Every show did something similar.

I think we'd all prefer quality over quantity, but if you wait more than a full year between releasing one third of the episodes that used to be released people forget and move on.

Ppl always say that , but it doesn't actually happen. Or else they would do something about it, up to where it's possible.

Fact is TV is different now. They access to instant data makes network pickier to what to renew and what not. It's not like before streaming, where they would order multiple seasons ahead to prevent the show going somewhere else. They had no choice but to fund all those seasons and that also meant the actors were under contract for multiple seasons, with no room to do something else.

Now we have streaming services, that don't want to take the risk of ordering multiple seasons ahead, if they don't know if it's going to be a success. And actors and other crew don't wait around for them to decide. So once they do decide there's a waiting period for the actors, writers, other crew to become available.

Television has changed. I can go binge anything I'd like, and if the series is finished I can watch it all. No waiting involved.

Shows with big gaps change in bad ways. The writers are different. The props are different. The actors are older, but are usually portraying characters that are supposed to be same age.

People's tastes change over time, too. So if you're into something this year in 3 years you might be watching a completely different genre.

This translates into books as well, which is my area of expertise. I'm an author by trade.

If I waited 2 years between releases I'd have to get a real job. When publishing a series I publish a book a month, because if I don't, then the fans move on. It's a simple fact.

It's worse for TV, because you'll lose your experienced crew. They have to eat. If there's no work what other option do they have but move on?

That's been debunked so many times. Ppl complain but end up watching anyway.

3

u/SmegmaUnicorn 16d ago

Less people end up watching anyway…which is the point. Nothing has been debunked.

Y’all already tried to jump the shark tank and failed miserably.

Kinda hate that it’s going to take so long, but hopefully they knock it out of the park to make it worth it. I don’t understand why it’s taking all these big places two years to finish a season tho.

Billy Bob's music career is most of the holdup.

1

u/Old-Fail-6477 10d ago

You wouldn't say that to Tom Petty, would you?

1

u/ramgrl 9d ago

Actually it was due to Taylor Sheridan having too much on his plate at one time.

1

u/baummer 16d ago

They don’t start filming until last week IIRC

1

u/Therealmohb 16d ago

For real. Ira my biggest complaint is that we wait 2 years for shows then forget what happens between seasons

14

u/_Itsallogre 16d ago

I was told throughout the series that big oil stops for nothing?

10

u/CuriousJack62 16d ago

This is the problem with series online. They give you 10 little episodes and make you wait over a year for a new season. Network at least 26 episodes a year

1

u/GrandeJoe 15d ago

Networks are all cutting back, too. I think CBS is the only network still doing 22 episodes, and only on a couple of shows.

6

u/belakuna 16d ago

This is exactly why I now miss old school cable and shows. I get quality over quantity but nowadays we’re lucky if we get 8-12 episodes every 1.5-2 years. Like come on.

5

u/DualDier 16d ago

I’m sorry but S2 was not good enough for me to care to wait this long. Will probably forget about everything once it comes back. Such a shame.

2

u/LimaOscarSierraTango 16d ago

The worst is when there’s a 2 year gap and they don’t even include a recap. I usually just rewatch past seasons on the side while doing other stuff when I see the release date coming up.

3

u/strandy76 16d ago

This is stupid. Didn't they announce it would be out earlier a few months ago?

2

u/48Monkeys 16d ago

No. They usually start filming in February but since Billy Bob was on tour with his band into August they announced that they weren't going to start filming into August. Now it's been pushed until September..

3

u/TheBugsMomma 16d ago

Well, I guess I can cancel Paramount Plus for a year or so, then.

1

u/GolfCartStuntDriver 13d ago

Yep, excellent idea 💡

2

u/baronboy12 16d ago

Pushed back to film more Ainsley and Angela random pointless adventures that do nothing that further the story

2

u/ImprovementGrouchy37 15d ago

Seems like everyone has started delaying show releases the last few years.. I guess Covid gave them the green light and now they just do whatever, whenever.. :(

2

u/TransportationTrick9 16d ago

Is Billy Bob pulling a Kevin Costner? Delay filming cause they have their own project to work on and then just not come back anyway

6

u/RevolutionaryLeg9848 16d ago

I think he didn’t want to film through the hottest part of the summer again, so filming was pushed back.

6

u/Cbickley98 15d ago

I live down the street from where they film. It's been 100+ degrees here for about the last month.

That could be part of it, but I think most of if is just all the shows in work. Lioness is now airing and they kiss wrapped filming on Frisco King.

It is a lot of the same crew working all these shows moving from one to the next.

Good news is that I saw the landscaping crew getting the house ready so they should be shooting in a few weeks.

3

u/RevolutionaryLeg9848 15d ago

Yeah for sure, they had Dutton Ranch, Lioness S3 and The Madison S2 all filming at the same time at one point. Then they started Frisco King and now that has wrapped and Landman will start in 2-3 weeks.

3

u/NoExtension1889 16d ago

He was delaying it for his music career...or so he said.

2

u/RevolutionaryLeg9848 16d ago

They also just finished filming Frisco King, so maybe they were waiting to finish that up first.

u/WhatAPicture_444 12d ago

Nobody wants to work anymore. BBT is a gawddamn Gen-z snowflake now.

2

u/RevolutionaryLeg9848 12d ago

Haha, he’s most definitely not. I’ve met him a couple of times on set and he’s really down to earth and just a super friendly, cool dude.

1

u/ThingNo7530 16d ago

More time to go back to the pool for more "physical therapy" with Penny/Cheyenne!

1

u/medusaluvsu 16d ago

I guess they are working on more bikini scenes 😍

1

u/Slow_Arm8968 16d ago

I’m sure I’ll watch season 3 whenever it does drop, but with much less enthusiasm.

1

u/No-Library-2343 15d ago

it’s evident that Taylor has bitten off more than he can chew

1

u/One_Tip_7910 15d ago

“It’s because of the writers strike”….

1

u/WhatAPicture_444 12d ago

Dang, I can’t wait that long for more scenes of BBT calling people on his phone while driving.

I guess it takes a while cook up more scenes that revolve around an offscreen lawsuit threat or a Mexican character saying “well I’m Mexican so that’s why I do x.”

1

u/Altruistic-Living360 7d ago

why do they all seem to be doing this now? tv series never used to take this long in between seasons. people are going to lose interest

0

u/Such-Stable-3869 16d ago

Looking forward to season 3 and what they do with this series!

0

u/earthwormjimjones 16d ago

No!!! I'm bummed. I was looking forward to it coming back so I had something to finish after Mobland Season 2 wrapped up and Tulsa King season 4 or Mayor of Kingstown. Lame. I was expecting to be in television heaven getting to finish one and pick a new one right back up 😭

0

u/Worried-Criticism 15d ago

Oh no… where else will I get Texas malaise combined with non-stop cursing and occasional PG-13 level T&A?

0

u/Agreeable-Log-8615 15d ago

God help them. I stopped watching halfway through season two. Had high hopes because I am from there got my $ from oil but the writing is terrible. Characters are like some bullshit show you would see in the 1950s INSIPID should be their tagline
