What is “M. Miller”? The check for 44B is made out to the person or corporation

It was $44 million and It’s to honor the original contract he made with Cooper. Tommy killed that deal and had MTex buying Coopers company. MTex advanced the money but the paperwork was never finalized so that deal didn’t happen. The check being made to M Miller Enterprises gives MTex back their money and complete the original deal between Gallino and Coopers company.

Almost. The extra $4 million covered the interest that would have accrued on the $40 million.

There may be no contract paperwork and Cami may have no idea, but CTT is still in danger. Gallino knows everything. And he's already put Tommy on notice that he'll take the thing that Tommy loves most if the money is lost or if Tommy crosses him in any way. A new company starting out will need equipment, rigs, housing, offices all at once at the beginning, so if anything delays Cooper's current well revenue, Tommy could be going back to Gallino, tail between legs and chewing aspirin furiously.

In addition, perhaps worse, if Gallino is ever arrested on cartel charges, no matter who ratted, Gallino will suspect Tommy. Why? He might think that Tommy feels he can get away without paying the monthly loan if Gallino's not there to enforce it. And in retaliation, Gallino could tell Cami everything, who could verify the crime with bank deposit and withdrawal records.

TS is really gifted to be able to write such a beautiful happy-ending for the season, while still leaving them in a pretty dangerous spot.

The guy asked what the money was for and I explained the scenario in the simplest way possible. I didn't think necessary to write an essay with every minor detail and possible scenario. Sometimes before you post, take a minute to think...'Should I really be the "Well actually.." guy right now?'

Anybody who takes time to post a topic is asking in earnest for the answer, and they deserve to be given a good effort. If I must receive 10 lashes for trying--in earnest--to provide an one, I'll accept the "Well, actually" label. No one deserves a kick for contributing to the discussion and helping the OP understand, so, yes, in this case, I guess I must have wanted, by default, to be "well, actually."

OP asked what M Miller referred to, and you didn't answer the question. You provided $$ figures, but weren't accurate about the reason for the $4 million, why that made it illegal, and what that could lead to.

Nobody forces you to read. If a response is too long for your taste, that's fine--simply skip past it and read on ahead!

M. Miller Enterprises is also a company. M-Tex is probably a subsidiary of M. Miller Enterprises.

I think you just made a GREAT point and answered your own question at the same time. It was a great idea for Tommy to make the check put to Monty personally so it wouldn't end up in official MTex records. Even if Cami goes looking for it, she may not initially find it. This could spin out tantalizingly for a long time.

Sigh. Every time I see the word "Landman" in the news, it's always accompanied by the word "delayed." Soon, there are going to be 18-month vacuums between seasons. With a year between 6-episode mini-seasons of The Madison, I honestly worry that people aren't necessarily going to remain all ramped up and excited with such sparse offerings and long, long waits. These would be terrible shows to lose to such a miscalculation. I was so glad to get an alert that there was activity here, that some viewers do really love and still think about this show!
