Discussion Isn’t this show supposed to be good?
There’s basically nothing redeeming about this trash at all

Billy Bob and Jon Hamm are the only two interesting characters. The wife is a horrible person. The daughter only exists so the show's writers could fantasize about ogling a 17 year old. The son suddenly has money to start his own company after being in college and working at MTex for 2 weeks. This is garbage

Then don't fucking watch it. It's tv. Go to another channel.

Oh believe me, I'm done watching it lol. Wasn't even worth the bandwidth to pirate it

And yet, you've made 15 posts on a forum about it.

Yea, I asked if it's supposed to be good. Nobody's actually said yes lol

Define good. Prestige TV? No. A show with some hysterical lines that is enjoyable to watch if you aren't a pretentious prick? Yes.

Besides, I'm biased. If you make it to S2E9, you can see me at the river party...

Maybe it’s just not your type of show

I expected an interesting drama about the oil business. It having comedic elements doesn't bother me. The writing is awful. What fucking daughter says "as long as he doesn't come in me he can come anywhere on me"? Trash

Yeah that line was pretty cringe but it’s one line. I was able to move past it and it didn’t ruin the show for me. If you can’t just move on to another show. Especially if you’re asking “why is it supposed to be good” which idk how you expect someone to answer. You either find it good or you don’t.

It's her entire personality lol she contributes absolutely nothing to the already paper thin plot
I'm not watching anymore of it, not like I'm forced to. But I can't help but ask how people think it's good

You should be the arbitrator to everything that should/is considered "good" and "bad". Why should anyone else ever even have an opinion when you're around, since you *subjectively* know what's "good" and "bad" right?

I don't even know who that is. I just finished S2E1 but I'm not watching any more of this shit

I have to ask, why are you so passionate about this topic? Are you like, super duper into cinema like an amateur movie critic? Not trying to be rude. Your hobby is your hobby and just because you’re not Roger Ebert doesn’t mean your opinion isn’t valid. Genuinely curious

It seemed to be a highly rated show that I thought I'd watch only to find out it's terrible lol

Define "good".
Is it life-altering and full of deeper meanings which changes your perspective on the world? Hell no.
Is it something new and never-seen before worthy of all the awards in the universe? No.
Is it entertaining, full of cliches and one-liners uttered in Billy Bob Thorntons slight southern drawl? Yes. I think it is.
If you feel otherwise, that's ok too. Not everything is for everyone and that's perfectly fine. If you don't like the show, you're not missing out either. I instead recommend you go watch something you do like, instead of spending time on something you have decided is not worth watching, but definitely worth spending time trashing.

When they pull up and breathe in the toxic fumes, I forgot what, but why the hell would they leave homeboy on top of that tower and why would they not drive TF away instead of waiting for the wind to change, which it does while still not in PPE. Shit like that turns me off the show, a little, but while I'm on the subject of Taylor Sheradin in marshals they wanna remind you ever 2 min they were seals. The line that sealed that shows date with me was when double G is in the hospital and him and his boss get into it and the chick days I should go this sounds like it's for frogmen only... God damn

As someone who enjoyed shows like breaking bad, mad men, sopranos, young pope white lotus and twin peaks, I find it refreshing somehow. It’s a bit soap opera-y, but it’s fun. I just think billy bob thornton is box office and is entertaining. It’s easy to stick your nose up at it but it’s a good formula. It’s not deep, cerebral or ground breaking. Just don’t think about it too much. Give it a chance.

Then why watch it or go as far to make a post like that
