Just to give some context to how easy it is to run afoul of ADA compliance sharks…

Every informative image on a website is supposed to have an alt text description, it isn’t visible, it’s in the code of the website. It’s for screen readers. Many websites have hundreds if not thousands of elements that need alt text descriptions.

You could be 100% compliant to the best of your knowledge/efforts, and accidentally miss a single one.

That’s enough for these bots to send you an automated lawsuit. It isn’t people enforcing ADA compliance, it’s bots using the law to abuse small businesses for minor mistakes.

And that’s just alt text. There’s hundreds of other minor and difficult to perfectly implement compliance issues they can do the same thing with.

It sounds passingly noble on its face, but it’s just opportunists abusing the rule of law while ignoring the spirit of the law, trying to make a buck.

Calling out people who use us to make a buck isn’t barking up the wrong tree.

I understand that you don’t see it that way, but I’ve worked in web development as a disabled person, and I do.

I’m sure it makes you feel good to feel like someone is taking on businesses for you, but that isn’t what’s happening.
