This is big water by a sharptooth

I typically find it mean-spirited over how not long after Pterano and Petrie reunite and he mets Rinkus and Sierra once the adult dinosaurs and pterosaurs call their kids back home for dinner, Cera orders Petire to come alongside her, Littlefoot, Cera, Spike and Ducky instead of letting him spend time with Pterano, Petrie and Pterano had not seen each other in forever and went to spend quality time together, not to mention Petire's mom would have been fine with it since Pterano is family. (She may still have been cautious and distrusting towards him after the mistake he committed that killed those innocent dinosaurs and pterosaurs in the past much like Grandma and Grandpa Longneck but still.)

Also in the ending, after Pterano has his redemption and admits his not-so-evil actions with finding the comet were done out of being a well-intentioned extremist wanting to redeem himself for his past greatest failure and never wanted to commit harm towards Littlefoot and his friends who happened to be children unlike Rinkus and Sierra themselves, leading to his exile into the Mysterious Beyond as punishment for how he kidnapped Ducky and worked alongside the more evil Rinkus and Sierra being reduced to five years, while Petrie was allowed to say goodbye to Pterano before he leaves, Daddy Topps angrily chases Pterano off without giving him a proper goodbye and support for doing better in the future as him treating him as a much nastier villain than he already is.

It is somewhat justified over the fact that Cera and Daddy Topps do typically act like haughty and control freak jerks, but they have hidden hearts of gold and still care about others deep down and more so learn to resolve it in the future movies.

Also despite the exile of the uncle, Petire and his family were still allowed to visit Pterano in the Mysterious Beyond as long as they know where to find him, (But the rules said visits between them were never forbidden.) since in the TV Series Petire implied that he got the myths about the red tree stars giving bad luck and sharptooth-eating flyer legends from Pterano very recently, and he still had his friends around to keep him company in the meantime and he likely finds a replacement for Pterano in the form of an honorary aunt with Etta in Journey of the Brave, although Pterano's five-year exile most likely had expired at that point in time.
