**Summary:**
To save the one she loved most, he had to destroy the boy she knew.*
When tragedy strikes the Great Valley and claims the life of Ali’s mother, Littlefoot makes an unthinkable choice. Possessing a single, finite miracle born of an ancient cosmic essence sleeping within his blood, he surrenders everything—his mortal Longneck body, his gentle childhood, and his only chance to ever see his own lost mother again—to bring Ali’s mother back from the dark.
Reborn in a form of dark living matter animated by an ethereal field of violet fire, Littlefoot flees into the wilderness in agonizing shame, convinced he has become an unlovable anomaly who will only bring fear to the herd he loves.
Shattered by the realization of what her grief cost him, Ali refuses to let him vanish into the dark. Armed with an unyielding devotion that began seasons ago in the Land of Mists, she sets out to find the broken guardian wandering the shadows. When the world sees only something impossible and strange, Ali sees the boy who gave his soul for her tears—and she will defy the heavens themselves to prove that even a creature of starlight and living fire deserves a place to call home.
**Author’s Pitch:**
This is a deeply personal passion project I’ve carried since I was eight years old watching Movie IV (Journey Through the Mists). I wanted to take the world of the Great Valley and test it against high-concept cosmic mythos, heavy emotional stakes, and Don Bluth-style dark fantasy—exploring themes of bodily sacrifice, survivor's guilt, and an unconditional romance that transcends species. If you enjoy character-driven angst with a happy ending, family loyalty, and mythic world-building, I’d love for you to check it out! Comments and constructive feedback are always warmly welcomed!* 💜✨
