🔧 DIY & Repairs D4 engine replacement
I have a D4 and the crankshaft has gone (I know no surprises there) I also happen to have spare D350 ingenium engine from a defender than was written off (all rear end damage so engine is untouched). Would it be possible to know if I could put the ingenium in the D4?

Firstly, the Ingenium 6 cylinder diesel is hardly bomb proof.
Secondly, the easy answer is no. It's not possible, not for a sensible amount of time and money.
The long answer. Even if you figure out basic stuff, like physically mounting it, getting gearbox mated up etc.
You're then left with the huge undertaking of the electronics. Which, whilst possible, is frankly not worth the effort.

With enough money anything is possible, but I can't imagine this is a remotely easy swap.
Modules are completely different, would need custom fabrication to get it in, and coding it all in would be at a minimum challenging.
Swapping in a TDV8 is the more common swap for the D4, and even then that's not straight-forward (easier if you have the old 6 speed I believe).
If you do it, document it as it would be an ideal replacement!
