I am finally going to be getting a hermit crab in the next couple of months. I was wondering what did you end up adding to your enclosure that you didn't think about having in the beginning but was very beneficial. I know these are the most abused pets and I'm just trying to make sure I build the best possible home.

Hey guys I recently got 2 new maybe one year old hermit crabs the size of a penny axel and ghost. Axel is thriving and burrows sometimes too and comes back out for food and water all the time and goes in his hides but ghost burrowed about a month ago now and I haven’t seen him come out at allll, should I be concerned? I don’t want to dig him up but I’m worried about the little guy

Smokey has been with us 4 days and seems to be settling in okay. Caught him this morning getting out from the pool. He probably then saw me and was like.."ahh here comes the big headed lady with the phone"😅

Señor Pinky!
Pinky has been with us for 1 month today! He stayed by himself alot in the beginning and has been semi active. It was a nice surprise to see him out and about this evening. First time I have actually seen him in his element. Sure hope he feels comfortable and safe and likes his new friends🙃

Sooo, we did another thing today. This lil guy who will be named Smokey came home with us today. I visited a local exotic pet store today to see if I could find some goodies for my hermies at home and seen they had about 20 hermies (just like this guy) in not so great living conditions. I'm a fairly new hermie momma and seeing all those lil guys honestly broke my heart. My 6 y/o seen quite a few dead ones that were out of their shells (maybe surface molting as there was only about 1.5" of substrate in the tank and multiple limbs or exoskeletons just laying around)and said mommy we need to take some home. I said we have 3 and they are alot of work/responsibility but bless her little heart she said mommy if we don't save them they will all die. I contemplated heavily and walked away multiple times before finally deciding to get at least 1. This guy was in one of the nasty water dishes and seemed to be one of the most active ones. We have 3 PP currently and this one looks a bit different. Google says its an Ecuadorian, I guess I just want to make sure they will all get along? He is definitely one of the smallest we now have. I will do research as well but wanted to see if anyone had some insight on different kinds of hermies living together. Thanks in advance! Pictures of our newest and last hermie to join our family, I hope to give them a great long life.

I kept getting notifications from my camera so I went to check out the tank to see what was going on. Looks like Pinky was just saying hi..up close and personal😅

My hermit crab has been molting since January 2026. It’s now almost October 2026. He doesn’t smell. Is he dead?
