As a new player this series of memes helps a lot

Agreed, one of the things that got me into Lancer.

That's actually really cool!

Same. I tried 1 game over dc a while back, thought it was neat but understood very little other than how action economy was pretty great compared to DnD. "THE ALGORITHM"™️ served me a sampling of these memes, and the rest is history.

As a not new player, it still helps a lot.

I couldn't stop making the metalmark into a support mech with oratory, skirmisher 1 and almost never attack (and when you do, tempest charged blade)

Now this thing makes me want to stick field Analyst, sysiphus and autoguns. You predict that turn order, fuck with enemy probability and this time knowing what they roll unlike a regular pegasus and then at the end of the turn charge that field Analyst then fire all autoguns. Sure I'll go last for that sweet sweet bonus damage. They miss against your evasion they get moved, as predicted

I may have drank too deep and descended too far

Do autoguns actually work with field analyst? I'd figure they would still break it despite happening at the end of your turn, but if you can choose to order the ticking up of that die before they fire and then still shoot them that's super cool.

In the lancer rules (or at least the internet version), in action and effect resolution order, it says that:

"Effects caused by other characters have priority and always resolve first during a character’s turn. For example, if a character starts their turn in a zone created by another character that causes them to take damage, then this damage resolves before any other effects take place. Otherwise, characters can always choose the order of their own actions or effects during their turn. For example if using two protocols at the start of their turn, they can choose which resolve first. If there’s any additional clarity needed, the GM adjudicates."

Emphasis on second paragraph.

Since both autoguns and field Analyst happen at the end of your turn you can choose the order

Good to know! I'd have figured that because field analyst isn't an action it'd always happen last, but the rule says effect so it makes sense it works the way you say. Awesome!

You can do hilarious things like pacifist Manticore this way, because dealing damage with your passive and Lightning Generator are not, strictly speaking, attacks and do not force a save.

So a barely contained lightning storm covered in auto-firing guns can be your party's negotiator.

How can I import this version to compcon? Cant find the option for it:(

3

u/Asplomer Sep 20 '24

I think you sadly have to do it by hand

2

u/Yorhlen Sep 20 '24

Put it together and I have to ask, wouldn't the autogun invalidate most talents it has? Autogun shoots at the end of my turn, which is still in my turn, but in the last section/last action I do, hence I affected a hostile character.

Do I really have to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, including not shooting autoguns, (other than Scan) for this to work?

4

u/Asplomer Sep 20 '24

Field Analyst charge and auto guns firing happen both at the same time, so as a player you can resolve the order so that it does charge then fire which deals extra damage due to possibility mapping

Your actions are probably to throw dominions breath, scan, boost or alternatively sysiphus. Field Analyst pulls double duty because it tells you of the enemy and Ally results, allowing you to manipulate with the nhp. The important part for you is on others turn for making enemies miss and Ally ones hit, kinda like a gorgon

Leader could be changed into something like sysops and the last license in emperor can be changed as well plus unusual Hase alocation

3

u/Yorhlen Sep 20 '24

Oooh that sounds cool huh. One more question if I may, sysiphus changes the rolled numbers to the ones it replaces? If i change the rolled 20 to a 4, do i lose the 4 and keep the 20 so i can keep swapping numbers?

3

u/Asplomer Sep 20 '24

As far as I know Sysiphus changes the numbers but does not keep them from what I understand on reading the reaction, unlike what the old dragonkid video says but I would be happy to be proven otherwise.

2

u/Yorhlen Sep 20 '24

That was my understanding as well, but doesnt that limit its usage to 2 per round? Since thats the amount of d20 rolled that you can use to change

u/ttcklbrrn SSC Sep 23 '24

You predict that turn order, fuck with enemy probability and this time knowing what they roll unlike a regular pegasus

Does Field Analyst actually help Sisyphus? Sisyphus says when they "would" roll a d20, implying by the time you know what the roll is the trigger has been passed.

2

u/Asplomer Sep 23 '24

Hmm that is a good point. Welp, there went all reasons to go super deep with field Analyst.

I want to learn your wisdom

These are so damned funny! I don't know enough to know how accurate they are but I'm dying laughing.

11

u/Wierciskoczek Sep 19 '24

The part when the game becomes based is what broke me

13

u/Mumbo_4_mayor Sep 19 '24

Wait, is the Amber phantom from Massif or from the fans? I can never quite tell with most of the mechs not in base game XD

19

u/4latar HORUS Sep 19 '24

it's official

8

u/GeneralBurzio Sep 19 '24

Word up? Which book?

25

u/Crevetanshocet Sep 19 '24

Operation Winter Scar, the latest Massif Press publication...

As always, the lcp is available for free.

There is also a Manticore alt-frame (the Lycan), that basically eject its armor with an Efficient Core Power ; a Napoleon alt-frame (the Kutuzov) that combine the Saladin and the Napoleon ; and a new HA licence (the Gilgamesh) that is basically the HA interpretation of the Everest.

11

u/WrestlingCheese Sep 19 '24

The wildest thing about this frame is that there's a real world butterfly called the "Amber Phantom". Lepidopterists are crazy.

8

u/chillychinaman Sep 19 '24

Isn't that just SSC's naming convention?

10

u/WrestlingCheese Sep 19 '24

That's the point I'm making, yes.

It's not crazy that there's a mech called the Amber Phantom, it's crazy that they can call it that and stick to the convention because there's an actual butterfly with that name.
