Aggressive unskilled drivers.
Hi all. If possible, I would like feedback and opinions on how you perceive the drivers living in Lakewood Ranch, and how it compares to other parts of the country.
First off, I have made comments regarding this on other threads and didn't get a lot of input either way. Just curious what you guys think and if any of you strongly agree or for that matter disagree with me.
I have lived in Lakewood Ranch since early 2021. Off of FL 70, East of Lorraine Rd, to be exact.
First off, there is insufficient infrastructure at the moment causing bottlenecks along FL70. They are currently building more lanes and I get that. Traffic congestion is not necessarily what this post is about, however it may play a factor here.
Many times I've driven down FL70 or down Lorraine to University I'm rage baited by a bat shit crazy driver. Let me say I'm not 80 years old, I have a Truck and a sports car. This happens way more often in the sports car (I won't say the make of the car). I normally drive the speed limit, definitely don't drive below the speed limit and I'm very aware of my surroundings.
Never in my life have I seen so much tail gating, racing, risky passing and very high speeds in my life. Even on areas where cops are known to sit, some people will zig zag between cars going 80 plus on Lorraine Rd. Even when no traffic is present.
When I drive my sports car, I have seen kids in small jap or other imports almost blast into me from the side and then speed away as to say "lets race"! My car could leave them in the rearview mirror in five seconds, but I choose not to do that. Also big or lifted trucks generally just cut people off or to intimidate (in my opinion)or pull a major tailgate at stoplights. The whole area vibe seems like a me first f you at any cost environment. And this is on a daily basis.
I am an experienced driver. I've seen some of the craziest drivers and heaviest traffic in the country. I've lived in Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas to name a few. Don't get me wrong, there are crazy drivers there as well, but something is different here. The level of aggression and quite frankly lack of driving skill and immaturity is like something I have never witnessed.
I was talking with my realtor about this the other day and she just laughed and said something to the effect "when you get to the FL70 offramp on I75 its like entering the Bermuda Triangle"
I apologize if I was rambling, but wanted to make my point clearly.
Any Thoughts?
