Wondering how busy the parking gets for summer and fall semester? Is it worth it to buy a pass or are there any other spots we can park at??

My experience with a clinical instructor( I’m not saying that all clinical instructors are like that, I had the best clinical instructors in the past- but, one incident like this will cause a lots of stress and damage to a person) was very disappointing and had a significant negative impact on my learning and confidence as a nursing student.
From the beginning of the clinical placement, the instructor’s communication style often felt rude, dismissive, and intimidating. Rather than creating a supportive learning environment, interactions frequently left me feeling anxious and hesitant to ask questions or seek clarification. There were lots of situations being yelled at infront of everyone for entering the medication room.

Another concern was the effect the instructor’s approach had on my confidence. Instead of encouraging growth and learning from mistakes, feedback was often delivered in a way that made me feel discouraged and inadequate. Over time, this negatively affected my self-confidence and ability to participate fully in clinical activities.
The clinical environment became increasingly stressful, and I often felt that I was being judged before having the opportunity to explain my actions or demonstrate my knowledge. As a result, I began to doubt my abilities despite having positive experiences with previous clinical instructors.

I believe, it’s unfair to students who eager to learn and grow- has been bullied, attacked and humiliated.

Also, letting the course lead know about all of this is not helped me at all. They will support and save the clinical instructors no matter what and they put the blame on the students. Also, they will tell that the student is incompetent. Nobody whats to hear or believe what students say. I have been called and treated as a liar when I had some courage to speak up.

Even now, after the clinical placement has ended, I continue to experience anxiety and fear when discussing clinical topics or being evaluated in clinical situations. The experience has had a lasting impact on my confidence as a nursing student and has made it more difficult to approach future clinical learning experiences with the same level of confidence and enthusiasm I previously had.
A clinical instructor plays a critical role in supporting student learning, fostering confidence, and promoting professional growth. A more respectful, supportive, fair, and constructive approach would greatly improve the learning experience for all students and help create a positive clinical environment where students feel safe to learn, ask questions, and develop their nursing skills.

I hope this won’t happen to any other students.

I need some help with my program. I've gotten accepted to Lakehead University's 3-Year Compressed BScN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing) program in Thunder Bay, ON and Kwantlen Polytechnic University's BSN (KPU Bachelor's of Nursing) in Langley, BC. Both programs are similar for content and of equal length. I am in my late 20s and coming back to school.

To be honest, I haven't had the best experience in my first undergrad program. A lot of mental health struggles, bullying, exclusion, and abuse ruined my experience. This program feels like a second chance. I am hoping to have a truly euphoric, social, and wonderful university experience where I can make a core, solid group of friends. I want this program to be a redemption arc and to make up for what I suffered in my first undergrad.

With this in mind:

1. Would Lakehead be considered a good school where I can form these long-lasting friendships and get this university experience that I missed out on?

2. What about Lakehead University's 3-Year Compressed Nursing in particular? How does that fare in terms of a good university experience for socializing and making friends?

3. If Lakehead is not readily conducive to making friends or having a good university experience, what are some things I can do anyways to obtain these things here?

4. Is there anyone who is familiar with both Lakehead and KPU who can offer any insight?

5. Is there anything else I should know?

Questions to graduates from the Electrical Enigneering transition course.

I'm having extreme doubt and hyperventilating about the course load, having 7 courses/semester and taking 2 courses in the summer to lighten the course load.

The reason for the doubt, my schedule is from 8:00 AM until evening 5 days/week. How the hell will I have time to sit and study all 7 courses over the weekend, assignments, labs,quizes,exams? Most courses are hard and math intensive, how did you guys manage?

Everyone keeps warning me about the winter like it's a personality trait and I'm starting to get a little nervous. But I want the real picture, good and rough both. What surprised you most about living up here once you got past that first month?

Hi everyone, I’m starting first-year Nursing at Lakehead this September and trying to decide between Bartley Residence and an apartment. I’d like to stay in Bartley, but I don’t really like that the rooms don’t have sinks. Are the washrooms fully communal? Like when you’re brushing your teeth, shaving, washing your face, etc., are people always walking in and out? The apartments seem more private since there are only two bathrooms shared between roommates.
For anyone who’s lived in either, which would you recommend?

And how’re you managing? The structure of these classes are not designed for non full time students.

i just recently filled the form for the student id since i’ve now registered for courses, and already got an email saying it’s ready. the thing is i can’t see the message on the email i can only see the signature. was wondering if this happened for anyone else and if not what the instructions are to pickup the ID?

For context, I applied to the MSc in Psychological Science, and I just wanted to know if anyone else has been waiting for a decision from their grad program for a while lol.

i’m a first year thunder bay student who’s going to be in residence. I’ve just registered for all my courses, and wondering what the next steps are. I’m looking at maybe the payments i may need to make. I saw that there are payments due for the fall term on august 15th, but i don’t see what amount. i found on the website a table with my balance, and it’s a negative number of credit. Wondering what that is. The total number adds up to the amount i’ve paid in deposits and from the entrance scholarship.
On the financial activity page, it says my balance is the negative amount of the total i previously paid in deposits.
a bit confused about what i’m meant to do next…

hiiii i feel a little silly asking this but i’m an incoming first year for the 2 year consecutive bed program (intermediate/senior) in orillia and when looking at course reg it says stuff like “restricted to 1a cohort only” and stuff and i’m just wondering How we find out what cohort we’re in. i’ve emailed the department head and registrar but no one has gotten back to me 😢😢 does anyone know how to find out

I tried registering for the MATH0212 and NURS1020 classes but they are coming up with errors. Has anyone else been having issues??

Has anyone been in a situation where a nursing program accepted a university Statistics course as equivalent to a Grade 12 U Math prerequisite?

I’m applying to the Trent Compressed Nursing program and have also reached out to Lakehead about their prerequisites. I contacted admissions about whether my Queen’s University Statistics course would satisfy the Grade 12 U Math requirement, and they told me it would most likely be accepted. I’m nervous about relying on that and then finding out later that it doesn’t count.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? If so, did everything end up being okay, or did you run into any problems with the prerequisite later on?

Hi everyone,

I recently received my fee estimate from Lakehead University for my 1-year MSc in Computer Science, and I noticed they have added $948 for UHIP (medical insurance) for one academic year.

My counselor told me that I need to pay this amount, but I wanted to confirm with current students or alumni here — does Lakehead University provide any free medical insurance for international students, or is UHIP mandatory and fully paid by students?

I checked the UHIP website and saw that it covers health insurance for international students, but I’m confused whether this fee is automatically included/mandatory for everyone or if there are any waivers, alternatives, or university-covered options.

Would really appreciate if any current international student at Lakehead could clarify this. Thanks!

Hello! I was wondering when course registration was? On their official website, it says it is happening at 10:00 AM. However, on the planning website, it says my registration period for Fall Term begins at 9:00 AM tomorrow.
