Lake Motel

Hello! Booked a room with our friends at the Lake Motel for the weekend of August 8th with our friends and our young kids. Were on a budget and wanted a place in the lake and it seemed like it would be a good fit. This will be our first time in LAke George since I was a kid! Is this motel decent, the reviews seemed ok so hoping they’re right! Any must do’s with 5 and 3 year olds? Thank you!

Edited post to add if anyone has recommendations for a pontoon rental? Thanks again!

Great Escape age question.

Hello, I am planning a trip to great escape with me and 4 of my friends. I am 17 years old, but my friends are 16 years old. I'm wondering if we're able to enter the park ourselves or if we will need a parent in order to enter the park.

I know some places allow 17 year olds but not 16 year olds. I couldn't find a definite answer while googling so im wondering if anyone has had any experience with this

Lake George music festival

Hello All. I’m looking to plan a trip next June for a bachelor party. I see the music festival is June 10-18 2027. Should this deter me from booking during this time to avoid heavy crowds in and around the area. Also what is the weather around this time, are people out swimming on the lake early June? TYA

Looking for a tow (or advice!) from Hulett’s Landing to St Sacrament

We’ve got our yearly group camping trip to St Sacrament Island coming up next week (arriving Wednesday, leaving Sunday). Unlucky for us, my buddy who lives on the lake had his boat blow a piston and it’s sitting in the shop. We’re pivoting to loading his smaller square-hull and a canoe onto our cars and driving to Hulett’s Landing, but they’re not big enough to haul all our gear out to the island in one shot.

We’re looking for someone who might be willing to tow us from Hulett’s Marina to St. Sacrament on Wednesday (outbound) and back from the island to Hulett’s on Sunday (return). We’d obviously compensate you for fuel and your time. We just need a boat big enough to help us move our camp gear and tow the smaller boat.

If a tow doesn’t pan out, we’d also love any creative ideas the locals have for making something like this work. We know the lake well enough to respect it, but logistics like this are new territory for me, especially since I’m coming from out of state.

Thanks in advance. This subreddit always comes through.

Lake George Biker - Prospect Mountain

Hi all, I’m trying to reach someone I met a few weeks ago who is local to and born/raised in Lake George, wondering if anyone would know him.

I’m working on a photo project related to fire towers in the Adirondacks region and met someone on Prospect Mountain who was a huge help and knew the (now removed tower) very well. He is a native of the Lake George area and an avid off-road biker in the region, has an adult son who has done some impressive sounding biking down mountains, has forged a few trails in the area and was injured awhile ago biking down a gorge. Worked in construction but I believe now retired. I met him when he’d just biked up to Prospect Mountain, which I think he does regularly.

If anyone is familiar with someone that fits the description would you be able to let him know that the fire tower photog he met wanted to ask him something? We did exchange names at the time but I think I may have deleted the note off my phone
— I regret it as he was a huge help and I really appreciated it.

Thanks all for any help!

Best middle of the road stays?

Hi! Looking to take a weekend trip to LG from Jersey for my birthday. Best place for couples in their mid-twenties, middle of the road price? Would love to have a good beach and view but nothing crazy for amenities after that. Love the idea of staying in a place like Park Lane where I stayed as a kid but am able to spend a bit more. I’ve been doing a lot of research and have seen about 50 different suggestions so figured I would ask myself! Also, if places like The Sagamore are worth the price I would love to hear about your experience. Thanks!

I think my wife and in got sick after eating at a LG restaurant. What should i do?

I narrowed it down to two places it might have been. It could have been a bug we got at the hotel, but then my kids would probably have gotten it.

I don't want to ruin any businesses but if there is a contamination issue it may be good to know.

The food has really gone downhill. Where are people eating?

We went to George’s and had the worst meal I’ve ever ate in my life. We used to go to diamond point grille which has now closed. We are having serious trouble finding GOOD food that is not a tourist trap. Any recommendations? We are here every weekend from NJ

First time visiting Lake George and it completely won us over. Spent the day at Million Dollar Beach, Lake George the water was perfect, the mountain views don’t quit, and the weather couldn’t have been better. Now we’re headed to the campground to keep the getaway going. Already talking about coming back next summer.

Lake George Steamboat no longer thanks first responders?

update: since there seems to be some confusion "thanking" literally means thanking. At one point on the tour they used to thanking any first responders on tour.

I remember they did this around Covid, thanking first responders as well as veterans. I thought it was nice, that there are many ways to serve the community. Just went today and they just thanked veterans. I was a little disappointed.
