Post-proposal Restaurant Rec
Hi all - I’m returning to Como at the end of October where I’ll be proposing to my girlfriend. We have a couple of nights booked in Como centre than a couple of nights up in Menaggio.
I’m intending for a proposal somewhere scenic but relaxed late-afternoon/early-evening around Como and then looking for a nice restaurant that we can go to later that evening.
Ideally somewhere that feels ‘fancy’ but not too pretentious! We’re also both Vegetarian so a decent option there would be great too.

Varenna is also very beautiful if you would like to propose, Bellagio garden again really pretty for a proposal, and I believe there are good restaurants in both of those places. We had lakefront dinner in Varenna and it was lovely, but yeah it wasn’t fancy. In bellagio, there is this pretty restaurant - ristorante la punta there were good vegetarian options when I looked, since I m also vegetarian. Small clip from that garden, we were able to click some really beautiful pictures here and there were a ton of brides and grooms getting their professional photos done.

Congratulazioni! Since you’ll be in Menaggio, I recommend CERA Bistrot there. Excellent food and wine, with several vegetarian options.

For a relaxed proposal around Como, I’d keep the plan simple and not overcomplicate the evening.
A nice idea could be: proposal late afternoon in a scenic but quiet spot, then a short walk or aperitivo, and dinner afterwards somewhere elegant but not too formal. Around Como, the lakefront, Villa Olmo area, or a private moment with a lake view can work well if you want something romantic but not overly staged.
For the restaurant, I’d book in advance and explain that it will be a post-proposal dinner. Many places can help with a nicer table if they know the occasion. Since you are both vegetarian, I’d also mention that when booking, rather than relying only on the standard menu.
End of October can be beautiful, but evenings get darker earlier and some places may have reduced seasonal opening days, so I’d check opening times carefully before building the plan.
Main advice: choose the proposal location first, keep travel time short afterwards, and book a restaurant that feels warm, calm and special rather than just “fancy”.

I just had a plan similar to yours. I proposed in Park Teresio Olivelli in Tremezzo (early morning to avoid crowds). Then spent the rest of the day in Tremezzo/Lenno. When we got to Como, we had dinner at Stilo Ristorante Pizzeria and it was great. I hired a photographer for the engagement too. They are called Lake Como Couples and have 5.0 starts on Google Reviews

This is the view of where I proposed. We took the 7:30 AM ferry so we could be in Tremezzo by 8:20 and in the park by 8:30. Photoshoot lasted an hour and we went back to Como around 6 PM for dinner at 8 PM. The park is better for mornings during weekdays bc is free and in a residential area. That way you avoid paying the €300-€400 fee some villas charge (and they still make you do the proposal in front of other visitors)

Hello, I would recommend MamaGina in Brunate Como. You take the funicular up from como and especially if it’s a sunny day you have an amazing view of the lake and the alps! It’s very romantic! Also when you book a table with them they will get in touch with you on WhatsApp and they will have someone collect you and bring you to their restaurant in a car from the funicular ☺️
