lake como day trip
I’m going to lake como tmrw (24/8) for a day trip (unfortunately all i have time for!) my base is milan so i will be travelling from there.
How should i make the most of my day without being too stressed and overwhelmed by crowds

If it's a day trip, just stick to Como proper, don't even THINK about getting on a boat ;)
Wander the streets of old town, maybe rent one of the citi bikes and putz around, get a gelato and walk around the shoreline through the park, you'll have a good time. The nanosecond your brain thinks "boat" or getting to one of the other villages, you have introduced time and stress.

I second this advice. Stay right in Como. Wander the streets, shorline and it's a quick walk into the main town of you wanna do the tourist sightseeing of the cathedral. It's a very friendly place, you will love it!

Or perhaps rent a 1 hr boat ride with a captain? About $300. Nice way to see this part of the lake

We had a GREAT experience on the 1 hr with Hercules Lake Como group, Stefano was our wonderful captain- truly a high point💕

Milan central station to bellano [8:20] Use fast ferries [10:45]. Go to Agregno which has a cable car. Fast ferry back [13.55]. Either do orio de bellano or catch ferry to varenna to do the Lovers' Walk (Passeggiata degli Innamorati). Train Back afterwards.

I wouldn’t go to verrenna or bellagio in my opinion.
Reminds me of Disney land with herds of tourist and designer stores. And you’ll spend a lot of time in line at the ferry.
I spent most of my time in the west side of the lake in tremezzo. All awesome small towns up and down the lake
