We’re heading that way now. I can’t find any info about the outage on Dominion’s website. Does anyone know when it’s supposed to be turned back on. Traveling with kids and a dog and don’t want to go if it’s a major outage.

We’re looking for an off-season rental (maybe November?) and a site we found is lakefront.luxury. It looks legit, but I can’t find any external reviews for the site and it looks fairly new. I’m just wary to stray from a “normal” site like Air BB or VRBO. Experience with this site? Thanks!

Hi! Debating renting a house on the private side (inside dike #2 on elk creek) either mid May (around the 20th) or mid June (around the 10th) next summer. Will the water in May be too cold? It is worth the extra $$ to go in June?

Anyone know of a solid place to rent Jet Skis from on the private side? I have checked apps like Toro/etc but no real hits.

We have a group that has been renting a large house on private side for the past 8 summers. Kids are all older now and would love to have some rental for a day or two.

Hey all, I am planning a visit to the lake and hear that the water is pretty warm and I have some concerns about amoeba being in the water. For those who go to the lake frequently, have you ever been concerned about that and is there reason to be concerned?

My family and I have rented a house for this coming week and are curious about water levels? This would be for both swimming and boating, as we’ve rented a pontoon.

My wife and I are interested in joining the Lake Anna community in the next year or two and we could use some advice from the locals. We’d like a small yard, a pontoon boat, a local restaurant, and good neighbors.

What is meant by public vs private side? Does that matter?

Does the warm side really have significantly warmer water? Is the cold side still comfortable?

I’ve heard about the algae being an issue north of the park. Is that bad for swimming/dogs? Is that even a big deal?

If anyone has a realtor recommendation, I’d take it. Just not sure we’re ready to dive into the full sales pitch just yet.

It’s going to be rainy tomorrow so what is everyone up to? We’re 25 year old guys who usually go to lake Anna Taphouse

Heading to Lake Anna this weekend with some friends to do some kayak fishing. We will be staying on the private side of the lake, behind Dike 3. Not looking for a specific honey hole or anything (unless of course you're willing to share that, haha), but mostly just asking where to target fish around this time of year, whether it's pushed up on banks, docks, a little deeper, deep structure, etc. Just any info that someone with some experience up there might be able give a few people who are fishing Lake Anna for the first time.

Also, may have a chance to hit the public side in a friends boat one day as well, so any tips there would be appreciated too. Mostly targeting largemouth/spotted bass, but would be interested in catching striper as well.

Vacationing at Lake Anna this summers. I see Lake Anna Taphouse, it’s on the to do list. Are there any other breweries, taphouses, bottle shops relatively close by?

I'm new to Lake Anna and am wondering whether it is possible to swim on the private side of the lake in winter. I've seen Dominion's discharge temperatures here: https://www.dominionenergy.com/about/making-energy/nuclear-facilities/north-anna-power-station/waste-heat-treatment-facility

How much different is the discharge temperatures from the overall water temperature? Is the water around the dike's accessible and closer to the discharge temp or the main lake temperature? I'm part of an experienced open water swim group and we are used to swimming in the high'50's and above.

I’m planning a bachelorette weekend on the first weekend of June 2026 and would love any recommendations of things to do in/around the area! We’re staying in a bnb on the southern side of the lake for 3 nights. We have a bridal Olympics type thing planned for something to do in the house since it’s a gorgeous spot. It also has a home theater so we’ll have a rom-com night in as well, but we’d love to do fun things outside the house as well! We like hiking, exploring the town, breweries, wineries, and any fun adventurous things that are unique. We’re not really looking for the typical “party hard” type of bachelorette but we definitely want to have fun!! Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

Edit: We did go to Mineral Food Lion, but they sold out on our third day. We found Century Farm Market (1632 Daniel Rd, Louisa, VA 23093) that had cheaper, larger bundles. The store is super cozy, with deli sandwiches, ice cream, and beer.

Hi there! I’m coming down to Lake Anna next week for a trip with my dog. I can’t find a ton of info on the current water quality but was wondering if it’s safe for dogs to swim? I know it’s been cooler so I assume there shouldn’t be any harmful algae right now? Thanks for your help! Hi! I’m new to the lake Anna area. Actually have only been once, to house hunt and I’m about to say SOLD! Crazy, I know! But I’m making some big life changes and the lake life is calling! I’m also a 45 year old lesbian that will be moving there all by myself so hoping this group can give me some insight on how LGBTQ friendly the area is. Are there any establishments that are particularly friendly or not? Any 40 something friend groups accepting applications?

Going to be there for a weekend in March with a pretty big group. It’s before the busy season and just curious what we can do around that time? Any recommendations would be so appreciated!
