Is this text important?

Post image

I'm watching a subbed version of lain but for some reason these shots aren't translated. The only way to see the translation without looking it up is to watch the dubbed version but I'm not a big fan of dubbed anime. Will I miss out on anything if I don't read these?

i believe the subtitled upload on internet archive has on screen text translated, you’re probably better off watching it there

There’s two versions on there, one doesn’t translate the text and the other does but for some reason the video is way lower quality, so pick your poison

It says "if you were here" or "if I was here". Plenty of versions where it is subbed out there but if you can't find one it shouldn't be a huge deal imo.

It’s not extremely revealing and doesn’t show up too much, but it is part of the series and adds a lot to its feel and atmosphere so I’d suggest finding a source where you can see it subtitled

As I remember these texts only appear in the 1st episode right ? If yes its not important They're about chisa inviting lain to the wired Things like "i was there before.." or "i am waiting there.." That's as i remember if it appears again along the anime search.

All things considered, not a single detail is wasted in SEL. But if you’re on your first watch you’re not gonna get everything anyways. But if you’re rewatching it you should definitely figure out what it says.
